IRIS-T sucks at range! Its worse than old AIM-9NP!
-
I found it quite funny. I was playing around with the missiles while i found strange thing.
Old AIM-9NP has better range than IRIS-T.
The max range looks like the same but look at no escape evelope, poor beeper aka AIM-9NP has better no escape evelope than IRIS-T.Note than IRIS-T is new fancy missile with FPA sensor, thrust vectoring and super high off boresight!
AIM-9NP is a poor beeper thing. It has nothing. No thrust vectoring. No FPA sensor, not even all aspect! No off borersight. Sucky tracking rate, sucky low field of wiev… Not even bore/slave nor SEAM! But this old fart has better motor?Really? Is it correct? Because i feel like using drunk men’s missile when using IRIS-T.
^^ While IRIS-T suck the duck (yes, duck, bomber is a duck!) AIM-9NP is inside no escape evelope and is ready to kill the duck!
BTW: IRIS-T means Idiotic Range Infrared Sucker - Thrustless
-
i assume that the IRIS-T is maybe newer and can fly faster than an AIM-9, but since it’s smaller, it has a smaller engine and is worse on range than the AIM-9…
Also, some research in the web might answers your question

The IRIS-T wasnt revamped yet, but this can be easily remedied.

So you means that its a bug and not the correct behavior?
That what i was guessing.
Can you tell me how to edit it to get correct performance and will it cause problems in MP? -
it means that pretty much all the popular (i.e common) AA missiles were overhauled for 4.33. IRIS-T had somehow slipped below the radar.
it is still using it’s old 4.32 FM which is kinda wrong
It would be fixed for one of the future versions. -
Ok, so, waiter must be patient
