BMS4.33U1+keyboard problem-SAITEK x52 Pro

I am having trouble with my keyboard function in that it works fine in normal mode and all keys respond normally but once I enter ADVANCED MODE to programme Flight Controls ets the keyboard is totally frozen once I re-enter normal mode outside ADVANCED. Tried new keyboard but no change and keyborad works fine in other programmes apart from BMS4.33. Tried several re-installs also but no change

You cannot set/change keyboard selections in the Setup–>Controllers–>Advanced menu as far as I recall.
Those are primarily axis settings and what you can do is define the axis to be keyboard controlled. Then, in your keyfile, you can assign the keys that will control that axis.
The problem is probably something along the lines of:
- You’ve set the axis to keyboard, but the keyfile has no key assigned, or;
- You’ve set the axis to keyboard, but are using a keystroke associated with the wrong command to use that axis, or;
- You haven’t set the axis to use the keyboard.
Something along those lines.
What axis specifically do you want to control by keyboard? What keyfile are you using?

Sorry to mislead you Agave_Blue. I am not trying to set an axis on the keyboard I am just trying to use the keyboard as normal and am setting axis in ADVANCED. Its just that keyboard keeps freezing in normal mode after I exit ADVANCED where I set axis there… By the way the new version of Flounder seems to be v3 which seems to be for BMS4.32? what happened to v5? which was really good. Still not quite understanding your problem. Sounds like:
You go to Advanced Setup and select ‘keyboard’ as an axis device –> exit Advanced to the normal Setup screen --> Keyboard is locked up. Is that right?

I only go to ADVANCED in order to set(change) the axes i.e X, Y and Z etc and do not use the keyboard for this exercise. When I exit ADVANCED after that the keyboard is frozen up and only the Saitek commands work.

Well, that is odd. I’m not sure what would cause that.

The BMS 4.33 Update (Install)Panel shows that File 4.33 Update_1_Base_Part_1.bsf file(one of four bsf files) of 909026 kb is corrupted even although I re-installed several times. This may be my problem with the frozen keyboard. I will just have to work it through now. many thanks Agave_Blue and kind regards.

Don’t think this is a Saitek issue…as exactly the same happens to me with CH FS/PT/PPs if i go to controllers>advanced to check or edit axis bindings when i exit advanced none of the keyboard commands (or the associated HOTAS binds) work…only the joystick axis…
I’ve learned to live with it as restarting BMS has it good as gold WITH the new bindings -
Thanks jasonbirder. It is a very strange situation and I don’t think it is a Saitek problem either as you say. It may be a corrupt BMS file as I stated previously. What do you mean about the new bindings? It is just a nuisance having to reboot the BMS each time I exit ADVANCED to get the keyboard to function properly again.

Hi jasonbirder. I think it is because of one of several problems because it seems so unusual between us I think i.e
1. Corrupt bsf file in BMS4.33 as mentioned above which my SET Up Shows distinctly but new reinstalls do not fix the problem
2. We unintentionally setting up a combination keyboard setting on the keyboard which freezes the keyboard after exiting ADVANCED(I am still exploring this possibility)
3. In my case I inadvertently downloaded from 1st Virtual Fighter Wing a v.3 download for BMS 4.32 which has apparently corrupted my v.5 version of BMS4.33U1(they only have this version now)
In any case it just means that ADVANCED can be set up according to our wishes for axes and then there is no need to enter it again until really needed and BMS4.33U2 can be played as normalKind Regards

AMPRISAmpris, I think is mis-stated (or mis-understood). ‘v3’ and ‘v5’ are my personal notations for my keyfiles. My keyfile ‘v3’ was for an X52 Pro made for use with BMS 4.32 (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?18522-X52-Pro-DX-Profile).
My keyfile ‘v5’ was also for an X52 Pro, but for use with BMS 4.33 (https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?23661-Flounder-s-X52-Pro-Keyfile-DX-Profile-for-BMS-4-33). This is due to command additions, updates and deletions between the two BMS versions. You can read about the BMS callback changes in the file, x:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input\BMS Callback Updates.pdf.
Neither one can ‘corrupt’ the other, nor ‘corrupt’ BMS. They are simply keyfiles for the two recent versions of BMS. Both still exist in their original forms. The files I upload a year or more ago have not been changed, over-written or removed. I have linked you to each of them multiple times.

For what it’s worth, the keyfile I use today is ‘v6’, my notation to reflect a BMS 4.33 keyfile built for a Warthog Stick with an X52 Pro Throttle.

What do you mean about the new bindings?
I mean the new axis bindings…
IE Throttle/Rudder/Toe Breaks - X/Y Cursor - Antenna elevation etc…
Those that I would go into Controllers>Advanced tabs to change…If I go into Controllers>Advanced to make any changes - once I exit the Advanced Tabs the issues with keyboard commands not being recognised occurs.
I have a feeling its an issue with my BMS>User>Config>DeviceDefaults File (as its keeps Growing! And its last updated date changes with everytime I play Falcon) but as exiting BMS and starting over makes everything work fine (with any changes I made saved) I can’t be bothered to fix the issue at the moment…I just work around it!

Hi jason birder. I have found a way of unfreezing keyboard without having to re-boot BMS4.33 i.e After exiting ADVANCED in Controllers when keyboard is frozen instead Click on Graphics then Click on ADVANCED in Graphics then Click on “OK” in Advanced Options and finally re-click on Controllers and you will find keyboard is now unfrozen. It works for me anyway although it sounds time consuming it is really quick and saved rebooting. It shows that there is a file problem for maybe some of us

Sorry for the inconvenience and misunderstanding Agave Blue. I did not mean your files were corrupted and I totally misunderstood your v3 and v5. I am just trying to resolve a technical problem which one other user is also having. I have found a work around and will make do with that solution. Let us just drop the matter now as you have been so help full lo me as a newbie in the past.

Agave_Blue. Can you please help me one last time. My Saitek 52 Pro MFD only shows continuous scrolliing showing Primary of Flounder x52 Flounder x52 v5 but no callbacks apart from Fire A. Fire B. Fire c when I press the buttons on the SAitek etc instead of their assigned commands on X52 Full which i did(installed) on BMS4.33. Also how to I get get the Saitek x52 Pro to show all the data as demonsratated on the download. I have x52 Pro on SST and also on the PC config but the data from such as DED does not show. I did download SST but preferred to use your DX programming without using the SST. I am struggling here as a newbie.

Agave-I just downloaded Teamviewer and also seem to have Teamspeak PTT under Flounders v5 Full callbacks in 3rd party green software but frankly not sure what these are?

Teamspeak is an internet voice-to-voice communication tool. Teamveiwer is (among other things) a PC support tool via remote access.
