Self generating waypoints?
-
Good Day, All,
I’ve noticed something interesting that has happened to me on several recent missions in the Korea 2012 campaign I’m flying. I’m not sure if this is a bug or not.
Say, for example you have a simple triangular flightplan , from The Boat to target waypoints and back. In the UI and WDP it shows the correct flight plan. However, when you get into the cockpit an entire new waypoint appears, and the flightplan changes. They’re always somewhere up north, and they seem to be after the target wp.
The first time it happened, I was Element Lead and the Flight lead ignored the “new” flightplan and went home, apparently following the Briefed flightplan. Another time after the target I selected next WP and it took me to the" new "WP. I followed the new route, and where it tied back into the original flightplan ICP 5 showed me very late.
These “new” WP’s are not old PPT’s, target WP’s I’ve put into the DTC, etc.
Has anyone else seen this, and is there a correction? -
Have you suspected there may be different reasons for the same apparent problems? Having once chosen the wrong flight by mistake, and another time one of the problems you excluded, exceptionally? Or are the phenomenons really the same without a doubt?

I would just double check that some lat/long’s aren’t showing up in the steerpoints within the DTC as you cycle through them. other than that… shrugs

Is it a waypoint for the alternate landing or a tanker?

Does it have anything to do with this? https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?27894-Waypoints-are-changing-different-that-planned

Good Day, All,
In the order you posted…
Lorik,I did confirm I was in the correct flight. It was doing it routinely. The UI , WDP,and Mission Commander show one thing, inside the cockpit shows another. One time the target WP “moved”. I was curious so I followed the flightplan and the target was not where the HSD said it was. I got a “Mission fail, never reached target” on that one.
Quasi, I am doing that now
Ripper, no it’s the alternate, tanker, ppt, or anything else I can ID
Hollywood, I don’t think that was the problem. I will file that away for future reference.
Guys, I tried different things and since I cleared the DTC it seems to be fixed. I am flying the Korea 2012 campaign, and the UI page where you select target points doesn’t have a “clear” button. My theory is the DTC itself got “cluttered”.
One note, though, that the clear button inside the DTC is NOT just target points. It clears everything, so you have to reload everything else.
My plan for now is that I have incorporated checking waypoints in my preflight checklist. I have noticed that while the WP lat/long are not exactly as in UI .WDP,and MC, they are close enough where the flightplan isn’t altered.
So. if this happens again I’ll just clear and redo the DTC -
Just to Update: The issue returned last night. Before I clear the dtc and redo it all, is there a way to clear _just_the accumulated target points on the Korea 2012 campaign?

hi drtbkj,
I have delt with an issue somewhat like this. when setting wpts there is no clear button. I think it might be a glitch. what I did was just overwrite the ones that couldnt be cleared. and if the old wpts outnumbered my new plan i would either double some up or make a note of which wpts were off track. I dont recall what theater this happened in, but I wasnt in 2012. it was either ITO or Nordic. so this issue is in some other theaters too. I will keep an eye out for a better solution. i wil look at the UI in 2012 but I dont know if this is it. I agree that re-setting the whole DTC can be a pain.the points I am mentioning were unlike yours, added by me before though.

Thx, Starrats. I have been overwriting, and it does accept the new points. That my issue is caused by “overwhelming” the dtc target file is somewhat theoretical on my part. I just know when I cleared the dtc the flightplans in the jet were correct for 10 missions or so.
