Server graphic card

Hi,
Realistically what’s the lowest spec graphics card you need in a home based server to host say up to 12 online players for BMS?

Ironman

I’d think , your cpu and the amount of ram would be your first concern, unless you are maxed out in that area, I got a dual core pushing 3.25 ghzs and 8 gigs of ram running 128mb on vga and 4.32 zeroed runs flawlessly I think you can only get so much ram into a video card, but it all depends on how much you are willing to spend.

well not exactly zeroed, I turned on vertical sync and it seems to run better, I bet if I did that while tinkering with 4.33 it would have ran better, not chasing that rabbit today.

Although not home-based, we use this on our server: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24564-REL-dedicated-server-for-Windows-with-no-GPU
Server FPS can easily reach 90 or even 100+, incl. in campaigns.

Hi Yubba,
I think you misunderstood my questions … what GPU do you need in a SERVER to run 12 ship flight on line in BMS.

Probably, I do that all the time, I thought you were looking for graphic card specs, what flavor of BMS are you going to host ??? 32 or 33…

Even onboard vga will be more than enough, as long as it runs BMS in 3d.
U can replace the dds files with blank ones. Enter the server flight, go to external view ’ '=keyb command enjoy super high fps.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk

There are several ways to host BMS in a virtual machine that requires no GPU power (or even a windows install) at all. Have you looked at those possibilities?
For quick TEs, you should be ok with leaving the server sitting in the 2d map; for campaigns, you can make it use a transport flight sitting on the RAMP far away from the action.
All the best, Uwe

thanks chaps … all interesting stuff.

No graphics at all with the dummy D3D library by sthalik? My squadron uses the library currently, and the server is not required to have a “powerful” graphics card.
