Loading stuck in the F-18C, If spawn on the carrier?
-
I’ve just done a clean reinstall and made a few tests of my issue.
For some odd reasons, I’d sometimes stuck in the 2nd bar of the loading screen(after the countdown), If I were to select 195th Squadron(F/A-18C) in the Korea KTO and start it up on the carrier deck. I could do exactly the same thing in DPRK, fly other types of F-18s, or spawn mid-air with no problem at all. It just cannot be the combination of F-18C+ Carrier spawn+ Korea KTO. The only solution for me right now is to restart the game a few times until I could get pass the loading screen, which It would.
Has this ever happened to anyone of you? Any help would be appreciated!:D
Note: Win 7, clean install with no mods besides BMS
#2: when I look at the game’s memory in task manager during the stuck, it seems the game has actually frozen. -
it’s a known bug, it has to do with tasking and timing, skip ahead in time, let them launch, and join in flight, it also tends to happen on the first few flights after you add a squad to a carrier. What is actually happening is as such(from what I was able to reduct) there are multiple squadrons on the carrier, and they all get tasked, if one AI flight is on the cat or on the taxiway and you try and load in, frozen. Start at the ramp it might unfreeze your game, or, just skip ahead an hour or two.
you’ll see sometimes too, if you add a squad in mission commander, and there are already squads based at that AF or carrier, it will duplicate that airfield on the loading and squad select screen, after a few hours in game time, they merge back into being one. If I add a squad of super hornets to ramat david, when i come into game to load it there are two entries for ramat david, until a few game hours later, when they re-merge…when there are two entries, the newer squad will have problems until some time passes.
Good luck. Stop doing the reinstall dance, and in the future, before you take drastic measures do a sounding, troubleshoot, and read the bugs thread. this coming from a guy who tore down a production computer to play falcon because the cat knocked the power cord loose and it would short sometimes. I uninstalled about 1.5 TB of data and work, reinstalled windows, and re flashed the mobo, after I did, it was still having problems…so I checked my cords…Arcing electricity not a good sign. I guess I should be thankful my house didn’t burn down but at the same time i’m like “my campaign saves!”

Will the bug eventually ease out itself in the later stage of the campaign? Or can I only hope that the the deck is not heavily occupied when I load in, esp. when ramp start is my preferred method(I’m on a carrier, no way I’d miss the catapult launch
)?
Not sure If It’s possible, but I might able to spawn in another carrier to help distributing the traffic?
Thank you for the advice!
It’s been a while since I played and google didn’t pop up similar problem, so I thought It must be due to my modded BMS.

Lymark, I may be able to corroborate what T wrote. I seem to have the best luck adding a carrier to a campaign then adding a squadron to an existing carrier, because I only put my squadron on it. I wonder if that would work the other way for you, ie: if you deactivated the other squadrons on the Boat. Then, maybe run the clock a bit to clear them from the ATO ?

I can’t advise there, I don’t know how to add a carrier to campaigns, but that sounds cool. I’d be tempted to put it five miles off syria but that’s me.

I haven’t tried adding additional carriers yet, but it seems like having multiple flights spawning at the same time would also freeze the game as well, even If I’ve already spawned in and moved out of the spawn spot beforehand.
At least this is what happened when I manually created a package of 5 flights within one carrier. How do you guys get through that without joining mid-flight?
I assume I could have them take off a bit earlier with extra tanks and have my flight to be the last, or maybe I’d just spawn in multiple carriers for each flight exclusively. lol

just stagger the takeoff times and set the packages right and you should be fine. space them out by at least 7 or 10 minutes I’d say.

Looks like there’s still a chance of frozen as long as there’s at least one AI flight on the deck, and having everyone taking off 20mins prior to my deck spawn would seem to have fixed the problem.
However, I’ve just encountered that starting the engine(either after switching the batt or APU) might also freeze the game, but fast forwarding 5-10mins in-game time before cold starting seems to have solved that. Not sure why tho…
