    F-16 Canopy reference codes - Interpretation?

      I’ve started doing some formation flying and have found that Figure 3.1 in the F-16 MCH contains “Canopy reference codes”.

      There seem to be two reference codes; one seems to reference degrees off the nose, but I am unsure what the other (on the right hand side of the diagram) references; does it refer to degrees back from the HUD or the vertical? If not, (a) to what does it refer and (b) how would I use it when flying formation?

      I have performed a search on the forum and on the web but cannot find an answer.

        These are pitch (elevation) and azimuth cues.
