FreeTrack issue in BMS
-
Hi guys!
I’ve got a problem with TreeTrack + Falcon BMS combo. To put it short, here’s the video:
as you can see, the view jumps/skips when I look upwards. It’s worst when dogfighting, flying straight up and checking the horizon, or other moment when there’s a lot of head movement with looking upwards.I can eliminate the issue when I un-check “Track IR Vector” in the BMS options, but that leaves me with 2DOF only. The problem persists in both Z-Axis and Zoom options if the Vector is checked.
This only happens in Falcon BMS. I’m using the exact same profile, sensitivity etc in other flight sims like IL-2 or FSX, and nothing like this happens at all. neither I can see any erroneous movement in the skull preview (besides little stuttering every second, but it doesn’t happen in-game). My cam is A4Tech PK-333 with IR diodes, and a cap with reflective points. Running stable 29-30 fps all the time.
Today I’ve re-installed FreeTrack form scratch, unfortunately it didn’t help at all. Neither did reinstalling BMS.
I’m using Falcon BMS with update v.7, working like a charm if not counting this particular problem.
I’ve briefly tried OpenTrack, but it wasn’t working nicely for me, and FaceTrack is not an option cause I’m mostly playing in a dark room, with a lamp pointed at my keyboard.
Thanks in advance!

Any update on this? I’m having the same issue. Some reported disabling roll will fix the issue when you pitch up, but the problem still persists for me even with roll disabled.
I’ve never had this problem in DCS, so I’m assuming it is a Falcon BMS thing with what I know. I’ve tried different settings within Opentrack with no improvement, but as I stated earlier I think the problem resides in Falcon. I am very new to this game, I only discovered the problem today when I tried dogfighting and when I was in a bank left/right turn and I looked up the camera would pivot 20 degrees or so. It’s exactly what is happening in the video posted above.

Disable realistic head movement?

Since uploading that video I’ve switched to OpenTrack and now TrackIR 4 and of course BMS 4.34.2, but the issue still persists on all headtrack devices and sim versions. Disabling “Realistic Head” didn’t help. Seems like it helps if you either disable Roll, or limit your pitch-up to approx 90 degrees up. That’s slightly less than what BMS allows, but it looks like the view jump happens only after passing the 90 degrees up mark.

Yep, max output for pitch set to 90 degrees and it stopped happening. I guess a falcon limitation is the suspect. I can definitely live with 90 though.
Thanks
