My TIR3 Pro FOV is doing my head in. Because it’s quite high atop a 32" TV, I have to have the clip/cap sat on my head a precise angle to get the most FOV When I’m doing ramp starts, it’s constantly flicking when turning to extremes to look at PFL and console switches etc. I know I can’t do anything to improve the FOV of the device itself, but would getting delan clip improve the tracking? I’m not using the IR LED thing; I’ve got the original vector clip that attaches to a cap.

I’d love a new TIR5 but they’re not at all cheap.

When you get the delanclip you can also try out if it works with a spare webcam you may have lying around (with a couple of layers of exposed film in front of the lens) or you can buy a used ps3 eye cam for around 10€ on ebay, using Opentrack or FaceTrackNoIR as your tracking application.

I have no idea really why people still keep throwing money at the outrageously priced TIR stuff when tis this alternative is readily available.

        All the best, Uwe

I’m not planning on buying a new TIR, as I agree; they’re too expensive. £189 for TIR5!!

I think I paid around 40€ for my delanclip including a ps3 eyecam, including postage from the UK to Germany 😄

I also donated to the FTNoIR developer a couple of times. If you know which end of the soldering iron gets hot you can build the clip yourself for about 10€ in parts.

I have the delan clip on my headphones, and use the ps3 camera with facetracknoir. Works fine for me, i can imagine the delan clip would be an improvement for you 😉

Yep, same here, I’ve also mounted the delanclip to my USB headphones using a couple of tie-wraps.

Do they have a battery, or are they USB powered?

Yep, both options are available. I also use the USB-powered version.

                      Cheers, Uwe

I used to have the reflective clip and changed it to the Delan clip. It now comes with battery or USB. I had to buy a little USB on off switch or it stayed on all the time.
With the reflective clip, I observed stray reflections in the field of view to be the primary cause of the view jumping around.
You can check this by using the camera view and seeing the objects the camera sees.

It has to be line of sight for the Delan which is normally mounted vertically on one side of the head, so the Trackir unit is offset to the left rather than centre.
