AMX A1, cockpit and model.

A simple file yes.
Your cockpit, no. You can get the LOD back obviously, but you wont get a .3ds from a LOD in this size.
Sorry for your loss.

I am not sure about that. I believe it depends on how “big” it is regarded to polygon count, and of course, dofs and switches.
I could convert an aircraft, fully functional from lod to 3ds using the tool that is available somewhere in this forum If I can remember correct, there is a thread with this subject.
I will not say the name of the aircraft because I do not want trouble. I just converted in the early days as new member in BMS forum, and I was “learning” about lod-editor, and 3dsmax, I thought I could export and see F4switches and F4 dofs, and learn about them, but it is not possible. The model was deleted, and it was not worth for me. Of course, if you, accomplish the convert process successfully , you will lose all texture mapping, and dofs and switches already added.
I think is worth to try it as this is your model.
I will wait a moderator allow me to say the name of the convert tool. (not sure if I can do it without break any rule).

It doesn’t matter what the name of the converter is. You will find, that there is no converter available to download. The one referenced is the PMC site.
These tools were made for a different day, when things were much simpler. When you have more than 1,500 nodes/polys, the tools scatter the vertices.

Google 3ds to Lod exporter

Google 3ds to Lod exporter
Everyone, yes this tool exists.
It was only available on PMC forums. It has since been removed.
A solution: Backup every 24hrs. Backup the Backup (Off-Site) every 2 days.

thanks to everyone, but te tool 3dsconv.exe just Ihave downloaded not work for me, beaucouse when I open it the cmd window close itself immediatly and I not have the time to write the dos line, I made my liltle child again, regards
-
you cannot run it as a program.
You must open it in cmd. Thats “prompt”
-
this is how it works if u double click on the exe.
The procedure is:
Start->type cmd and press enter. It opens a dos window.
Navigate where u have the exe and the models to convert. Remember the filenames must be 8 characters and no spaces IIRC.
have fun.

Is this really necessary? What happens then if I rename a file as for example: “1.lod” and then “1.3ds” ?
-
 works ok. sorry I should said max 8 characters long.

After losing your files, to see you start up again is a great sight to see.

Indeed! Also, watch those sharp edges on the canopy glass!
-
Litening pod and GBU on the little AMX? That would be cool.
