AV8R’s glass cockpit using a 55" curved 4K SUHD HDTV and 7" LCDs behind Cougar MFDs.
Doable is dependent upon the hardware. For what I have, I wouldn’t recommend running this display configuration less than a 3.4 Ghz or better i7 CPU and 4GB NVIDIA 970 or better GPU. The problem with laptops are they generally are not good gaming platforms nor are upgradable or have a high end GPU

Hi Ice and other members:
I need some help. About a month ago I suffered the dreaded blue screen of death. Tried everything to get my system to boot again with no joy. I got frustrated and decided on a re-build with a new SSD and HHD along with an upgrade to Win 10 Pro from 8.1. I didn’t backup before the crash, so I had to reload all my apps and peripherals from scratch. From the start I had issues getting BMS 4.33.1 and incrementals 2 and 3 to launch (CTD at every turn). Cloud9, Ironman and, other members came back with suggestions to get me back in the pit. However, before my rebuild fix, BMS was working fine with Helios extractions using Ice’s and Gadroc’s profiles as well as BMS’ embedded MFD, RWR and, DED extractions. My renewed Helios profiles are operational but, now I can’t get the BMS Cockpit Display Extraction to work. Do you guys have any advice on a fix. By the way: I’ve downloaded Yame64 and plan to give it a shot, but would like to solve the BMS extraction problem before I proceed.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Mike.

Where did you get that sweet sweet ICP?

Hi AV8R:
I like your setup. Particularly your ICP. Quick question. Where can I get one. It would be great addon to my modest pit presented below.Sys Specs: Win 10 Pro [64], MSI Game Pro MOBO, i7 CPU, 32GB Memory, 2 (x) ASUS Nvidia 970 GPU’s w/ SLI bridge, WD 500Gb SSD, WD 2Tb SATA HHD, Toshiba 2Tb SATA HHD, Samsung 23" Curved Mon, ASUS 19" Touchscreen Mon, MIMO USB 7" Touchsreen Mon, TM Cougar TQS w/ TUSBA, TM Warthog SSC, TM Rudder, TM MFD’s, Track IRv5, Air Force Game Seat, Gametrix Jetseat, Corsair Head Phones.

I think the ICP is from Viperpits member…
mikemadmax: Sorry to hear about your troubles. I take it you can now install BMS 4.33.3 properly? Remember: You don’t have to install U1, then U2, then U3. You can download all 3 files, update your installer with U2 and U3, and install the whole thing once, straight to U3. If you are having CTDs just installing BMS, I would say you still have a problem with your system somewhere and you would be best served to find that issue first and resolve it before going further.
As for cockpit display extraction, you don’t need that now. Just use YAME and it’ll do everything for you. If you use Weepop’s profile, he even has a YAME loadout you can use which makes setup easier. Good luck!!

AV8R: That’s a sweet setup!! Can you take pics of the sim in action?? Really interested in the in-cockpit view.

i am using a 3D printed ICP by a member both here and ViperPits.org by the name REDNECK. Actually I built my own out of real Viper parts but use Rednecks because it’s smaller on my desktop. (Redneck on left, AV8R on right)
Cockpit is almost 1:1 in size comparison to TM Cougar MFDs
Even that “other” sim looks great
And still works fine for movies off NetFlix

Just bumping my pic request… and how far are you from that screen??

ICE,
The picture of the mfd and icp side by side comparison is an in game shot. If youre thinking a selfie kind of pic, cant help you there. Heres another with me flying DCS WW2 Bf109 with the Whog with KG13 stick grip. The controllers are about 6" from the hdtv display screen, and I sit arms length from the screen. Tbe 55" 4K Samsung SUHD HDTV resolution is so good and HD LED structure so tight, i dont see the individual LED structures at arms length. High res monitors and SUHD HDTVs are getting close in usability at close range. The advantage of 4k HDTVs are their size over monitors dollar for dollar. Curved displays are amazing in their claority. For aging eyes, 55" helps alot in reading mfds and gauges, and making visual talleys

Thanks for getting back to me Ice.
In a brief update, I’m up and running with U1 installed along with U2 & U3 added on. Cloud9’s advice that I include the dx9display file in my Users/config file made it happen. C9 also suggested that I add “-Mono -window”
to the end of my BMS Launcher.exe path. However, when I launch BMS, an “X-log” dump is windowed right behind the TOMO scrren. If I remove the Mono -window extension from the path, I’m back to a CTD situation. I have to agree that maybe its a system problem. After reviewing a few Benchmark Sims threads looking for a fix, I’m beginning to think it has something to do with my Displaylink software/drivers that shipped with my Samsung and Mimo USB touchscreen monitors. I’m still searching for a work around. I’ll let you know how it goes.By the way, thanks for the heads up on YAME - rather than busting my butt trying to get my MFD’s rendered using BMS’ embedded Cockpit Display Extraction tool. I’ve also got Weepop’s profile, so I’ll start tinkering with YAME in the next few days. I’ll give a shout out when its soup. I’m also going to look into getting AV8R’s ICP. Its a really cool piece of hardware.
Again, thanks for all your help.
Mike

Absolutely amazing. I like yours better to be honest. Do the guys often share 3D printer plans over at Viperpits.org?

8" 4:3 is 6.4"(16cm)x4.8"(12cm), which is too big (MFD inside dimension is 10.8x10.8cm), but I’d rather that than a gap. 8" will likely be too big to slot behind using the standard supports, but I’m sure I could modify the plastic supports.
The external dimensions of the MFDs are 14cmx14cm, meaning there’s be a small 1.9cm overhang of the screen. Have the overhang out towards the middle between the two MFDs and you’ve got a nice vertical space for VVI and AOA Shame it would cost £150 to get them
Actually, at £36, these look good?!
