    Problems getting engine to start

      im a new guy here so this may be a rookie mistake. Ive gone through the ramp start step by step and when i get to the engine start… I wait for 20% rpm then move the throttle forward hit the detent and slowly pull back to idle but nothing. ive tried wiggleing the throttle before start up to " wake up" the throttle but still nothing. I’m at a loss here. any ideas?

        wait till 20%rpm, then push throttle about 15% forward then click the clutch after that push the throttle forward and it should turn over. If you still have this problem theres a option in the configure option on start up that allows you to disable that clutch option if you want.

          From your description it sounds like your pushing the throttle to the detent then pulling it all the way back which actually stops the engine. Try pushing past the detent for a few seconds and once you see and hear the engine spool up reduce power to the detent but not past it.

            A bit more information would allow us to have a much better crack at providing a solution.

            Are you using a HOTAS Cougar? Either way it sounds like your throttle does have a detent, so next question is have you set idle and afterburner detents on your throttle axis (BMS-Manual page 40)?

            If so, do you have the Idle Cutoff option in the Hardware folder (Configuration option in the BMS Launcher) ticked/checked? If not, you have to use the keyboard combination to spool the engine up ([ALT + i] with default keyfile).

              Normally that should do it. For the purposes of learning go ahead and put the throttle to 100% before you click the detent. You have plenty of time to get back to idle before 70% RPM is reached.

              Also if you can manage to get the master caution light extinguished before attempting this you’ll get an instant master caution on successfully going from off to idle on start. Instant feedback is really nice.

                thanks for the help guys. i guess i was pulling to far back. im using a cheap $50 all in one joystick at the moment so no hotas or anything fancy. i did go through and set a button near the throttle lever for detent. now to get in the air and learn something
