I want to really hear it when I kick in the afterburner. I have this HP7X Gaming Head set so that I can talk and use key speech, but I also want to really hear that afterburner roar.

I have tried different equalizer settings, but I still can find the right one that will give it that true kick. Any suggestions?

Do you have the same issue when using speakers? I have cheap Logitech speakers, got them for around £20-23, and I can tell when I’m in AB, even when I’ve just pushed the throttle too hard into MIL power.

If you just wanna hear the afterburner really loud during takeoff, then set your Autopilot to Combat Autopilot in Setup>Simulation.

Turn up your volume, then once in jet go to Orbit View, position your view from behind the jet, turn on the Autopilot and listen til you can’t stand it anymore. Combat Autopilot will takeoff all by itself, it’ll run your whole flight for you if you let it.

But of course you can turn it off after takeoff.

                LOL Cloud 9.

Btw Ice, I have a soundbar with a sub woofer. I always felt that it didn’t have enough kick.

Maybe you want to try the Jet Seat by Andre? 😄
Not tried it yet (somehow, the funds always seems to go somewhere else) but people who have it seem to love it. IIRC, you get a little vibration/rumble when the AB is on or when the speedbrake is out… might be a good idea to ask in that thread to confirm.

I fly with a Yamaha A/V receiver, and a 150W sub-woofer! the only way to fly! (I also have Andre’s jet seat). A real “kick” in the pants. 🙂

agree with the OP. I wanna hear it!!! 🙂

I love the jet seat. I just don’t feel that the afterburner sounds right, but then again I’m going off of movies like Iron Eagle and Top gun, and of course what we hear is outside the cockpit.

Like this at the 28 second mark.

or this at the 2:25 mark.

Those are kick in the pants afterburners!

                      –----------

Also I’m just trying to get the right setting for all sounds for this headset. Its an HP7X gaming headset, and it has a bunch of preset settings in the equalizer, like Bass is perfect for a lot of the music I like, but it just doesn’t work in the game, yet the default setting doesn’t have that oomph I guess. Just looking for ideas and settings you guys use for your headsets.

Well I just discovered that in my headset settings I had environmental effects on. I turned that off, went with the Bass settings, and everything is better. I still wish that I could get the Iron Eagle/Top Gun after burner sound inside the cockpit. Otherwise I guess I will have to follow Cloud 9’s advice.:D

Those are afterburners sounds when you are OUTSIDE, and probably not wearing any hearing protection. If the pilots INSIDE the aircraft hears the afterburner “roar,” I don’t think they’ll be very happy after a while.

I know. But that is what I’m going for.

So, if it is what you really want (Hollywood style video game), set “Engine External” slider to the max (10) and reduce canopy attenuation by setting the “External Sound In Cockpit” slider to the max also (10).

Forget about hearing/understanding radio comm’s and forget about realism. (For info, you can find much better “simulation games” than Falcon4BMS to get what you are looking for.)

Dee-Jay, you don’t just do things even in this game to have fun?

I love its realism, heck I bought a warthog, MFDs, pedals, track ir, and a new gaming headset to use key speech to be more realistic. Sometimes you just need to have fun.

Now Dee-Jay, can you help me equip the F-16 with the Hades bomb, the same that was used in Iron Eagle? 😉

Sure! Sometimes I fly in formation with the KC135 upside down and shoot my wingmans !
I just wanted to tell that by doing so with the sound slider, “you” will loose realism … because some ppl looking for realism actually do think that we can hear afterburner inside a fighter jet’s cockpit. Some “urban legends” like this one for example. 😉 … Just trying to share some “knowledge of the reality” over general believes.

Dee-Jay, seriously thanks for all the help. This community rocks. I guess I just wanted super loud afterburners for a bit, don’t know why. Just sounded fun.

Ice, that is a great idea!

Now guys , how do I install the Hades bomb? Oh, and how do I connect the tape player???:D
