So as the title might suggest when I’m watching youtube videos of people flying BMS, tutorials etc, their shadows and textures just look sharper and everything seems just a little bit better.

I’m running an i5 6600k and a GTX1070 so I have no issues cranking things up to 11 but I feel I’m missing some hidden settings or something 😕 to make the game look as crisp as it does in the videos I watch.

These are my settings and a couple of screens; one is mine, the other is a screen of a Youtube video for comparison

      Any help much appreciated.

The green MFDs are nothing to due with graphics settings or reproduction.

That’s just an old block F16. Newer blocks have color MFDs.

          Things to keep in mind:

          1. Unless you know the exact specs and resolution of the machine which made the video, it’s hard to compare the performance of your machine to the vid creator.
          2. There are very powerful video editing tools which have the capability to make things look better than when they were recorded raw. It’s called “post production” in the movies.
          3. If the intention of the producer is to impress you (not just create a training vid) they are only going to let you see the very best of what they recorded. They are going to up the graphic options which impress, and remove the options which would otherwise compromise what they want you to see. They will edit out studders and fuzzy shadows.

If you have contact information for the vid producer who impressed you, you could learn what you need to know from that person.
Alternatively, you could post a link to the impressive video and maybe someone could guess what the producer is doing.

With a 6600K and a GTX 1070, you should be able to run BMS at max settings with no problem, especially at “only” 1080p.

Note that some people fly with some sort of “filter” on, like SweetFX or ReShade.

How close you zoom onto the pit makes a big difference and clearly in pic from the youtube its closer. Also much more sunlight/brightness. Not a good comparison.
There maybe custom Nvidia settings being used by video creators.

Dude, not a good comparison at all….sorry.
FYI, Different seasons/map detail levels can make it appear different also.

People sometimes ask what settings I use. The same question was asked when I was using completely different hardware.

Apart from colour correcting the video, I don’t do anything out of the ordinary, at least on tutorial videos. Sim settings are at maximum, and the graphics card is at default.

I don’t see a huge issue with those screenshots. You have to bear in mind that the video was most likely recorded in different sim lighting conditions. Things are going to look a little different.

I’m just content the videos survive, generally, the Youtube compression algorithm. But that’s another story.

                      - Pay no attention to the jet in the little window -

I don’t think that preview window has accurately represented the true 3D rendering for many years.

Many people have mods such as 3D models, textures, SweetFx etc.

                        Agreed.

To me they look just fine… nothing strange there in your pics…
what u see in others might be mods or different f-16 blocks… different lighting conditions shaders 3d party addons like sweetfx and so on and so forth…
