      Hello,

With the TGP as the SOI, why do you still see the target when flying away from it at your six o’clock? I can just slew and keep the target in sight behind me. My understanding was that there was a gimbal limit on the TGP so you can’t keep a target locked on your six. Can you do that in the real Sniper pod? Or, is this a bug in BMS?

      Thank you

No - you CAN keep the target lock on your six as long as you fly in such a manner as to not gimbal limit the TGP - yes, this is RL operation and not a bug. Required for BDA. Doing it this way relieves the pilot of having to do it manually. If you want the TGP to do something else, just undesignate the target after fly past.

I was looking at page 5-43 of the original F4 manual and it has a picture of the gimbal limits. It does show that the TGP an track behind you but only up to a certain point. In BMS i can keep the ground target on my six and fly 10-15 miles while never loosing sight if i manual slew. Isn’t 10-15 miles behind you beyond the limits shown on that gimbal limit diagram?

It really depends on your altitude above target - the higher out you are, the longer you will be able to track. And if you go right wing down a bit that will also help.

Also - Sniper is better at this than Litening, so no telling on my part what you are comparing from old to new.

Left wing down is what you mean, I think?

No - right wing down. If the pod is on the right side of the airplane and you are looking aft, you need to raise the fuselage (and CL tank) out of the pod FOV/gimbal limit - you get more aft FOV for longer duration/range if you climb and drop your right wing slightly.

No you piss on the fire hydrant. Raise the right wing.

I’ve always had it work better turning into the pod.
