I’m playing the stock KTO Iron Fortress Campaign…flying out of Kunsan doing mainly DEAD missions. The auto-generated routes keep adding a Push point that is all the way across Korea. Looks like I’m forming up with some Hornet squads based off the East Coast.

Is there anyway away to avoid this, aside from manually changing the SPs? Any particular settings I can check to keep my squad from getting paired with another so far away? I’ve tried leaving the Campaign up to “HQ”, and I’ve tried managing it myself. Almost every mission generated has me hauling across the peninsula. Jeez, at least those Navy guys could meet me half-way! 😄

Been away from Falcon for a while, and I can’t remember if there’s a trick for this or not.

you can task your own missions; alternatively just move the steerpoint and juggle your take-off time so you can meet them mid-country instead.

if you are running into fuel concerns, you could always just hit a tanker for loiter time and then merge with the hornets near seoul.

that’s assuming of course that your target is on the west side of NK. alternatively you could join the hornet squadron and adjust their steerpoints, then adjust yours to meet mid-country. but, you know, a little work.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing. I was hoping there’s a setting or something I could try that would stop pairing me with the Navy flights (or any flights far away). No biggie. Thanks for the response. Man, I’d forgotten how involved this Sim is…I’ve missed it. 😉

I think the best fix for this is just to create your own hops to fly, as Cik mentioned. You probably know how it’s done, but just in case…

Choose your target on the 2D map. For area missions like Air Interdictions right click anywhere on the empty map where you want to conduct the mission. For specific targets such as Pre-planned CAS, Strikes or DEAD strikes right click on the actual target battalion or facility. Choose Add Package, set the ToT, and click New. From the dropdowns choose your aircraft type and find your squadron if there happens to be more than one in theater flying your mark.

You can alter number of aircraft, pilot skill, etc and when satisfied click done and the mission should be generated. Drag your steerpoints to where you want them. If you get a Bad Timing error, just do it again but add time to the ToT. If not urgent, try adding an hour. If you get a No Aircraft error, try adding additional time until there are airframes available, or delete another flight through the ATO.

Doing this lets you fly your missions exactly as you see fit. You can add additional flights to your package such as escort if you choose. Getting in the habit of creating missions a couple hours in advance means you’ll always have custom missions to fly, and by doing them early you’ll rarely run in to mission generation errors. And no more cross-country joins!

I do occasionally add my own targets, but I try to stay away from the “big-boy table” and just take missions assigned to the Squad. I don’t want to get too bogged down in planning.

Also, does changing the Take-Off Time supposed to adjust the rest of the Steerpoint times, or do I have to change each point manually? Doesn’t seem to work when I try.

Yes, you can adjust the timing of all steerpoints at once. Go to Flightplan menu, lock the airspeeds of all steerpoints and unlock their times. Now changing the takeoff time (the STPT 1 time) affects all the rest of the steerpoints too. Also, this method lets you to drag the steerpoints anywhere on the map while the flightplan stays “valid”.

It’s unfortunate that Time Over Target and Take Off Time have the same acronym. BY ToT I mean time over target and I could have been more clear in my earlier post. When creating the mission you can change the time over target and all steerpoints will be adjusted automatically. But if you are trying to adjust take off time on a mission that’s already fragged, then johku gave good advice.
