A few taxi questions
-
Playing with BMS definitely nice, but I had a few questions about taxi stuff:
-
My biggest question is when you select “TAXI”, is it possible to have you start on the ramp…engines all fired up and everything instead of on the taxi way? This would help me get settled in instead of feeling rushed to taxi. I don’t always have the patience or time (thanks wife) to do ramp starts.
-
Also after doing a ramp start I wait on my flight lead to request taxi. When he’s granted permission he just sits there. So I time skip a bit then he blasts off like Apollo 7 and I have to play catch-up. Then we get to the runway and sit there until T/O time. Is it possible to configure the AI that once they start taxi they just go straight to take-off instead of worrying about T/O time?
Yeah I think that’s it. I understand BMS shoots for realism and what not. I do not have the luxury to sit down and go through all of this from start to finish. And I apologize if the answer is somewhere that I’m missing. Thanks in advance.

If AI is flight lead they will taxi at (I think) 4 minutes before T/O, regardless of when they call for taxi and will not T/O until the planned time.
My recommendation would be YOU lead and ramp start. You can easily ramp start in 10 - 13 minutes. Once you’re nav aligned (3.0 for short-align), pull chocks, call the tower and hit the runway …. off you go … let the AI play catch up.
Compared to Taxi, it is a few extra minutes, but if your time is dependent on, say, a 45 minute flight instead of a 51 minute flight …
.

I figured as much. Was hoping to shave a few minutes wherever I could. Thanks.

Hallo redshirt
Why don’t you freeze the flight on the taxi way?I sometimes do that so when I unfreeze all my stuff is all ready and I don’t need to set up anything once in the air
-
That’s not a bad idea either imp. Thanks.

If it’s single player there’s always time acceleration.
-
-
With time acceleration I have a problem of going to fast and not stopping in time. The AI move to fast then I have to play catch up.
-
Or if you time accelerate to fast another flight might spawn on top of you and kaboom…I have had it happen while still at hangar per say
-
Also, why don’t you select “runway” during the load up screen instead of “ramp start” or “taxi”? Just put yourself on the runway and fly. Also, don’t let the AI be “lead” as you have found, it can be a bit confusing. If the wife is that demanding, then I would suggest “runway” for your spawn point.
