My F16 is different from the training manual's
-
Dear All:
I tried to follow the mission 1 “ramp start…” from training manual and after launching BMS U3.3 found that the cockpit layout is very different from what’s in the BMS training manual (F16 block 50/52).
Could anyone help to point me to the right direction?
Thanks in advance!

Could you take a screenshot and post here?

Have a look at
… While there are some things I would do differently (like setting QNH instead of QFE, cause QFE is simply turning your altimeter knob until you read 0 feet) it’s probably a good starting point… Usually I start at the left panel for engine start, then move over to right & work my way back… So beginning with fuel selector which needs to be in Norm+ (talking about that grey knob on the fuel panel) & the master fuel switch should be set to on which it usually is by default… Then electrical switch must be set to the forward position, thus not in the “batt” position… Then comes JFS-start2… At 20% RPM you must press the idle detent or if you have idle cutoff position enabled in the configuration & set the idle cutoff bar in your settings (by right clicking on set AB), you can simply move the throttle forward effectively getting out of the cutoff position… RPM should then spool up… meanwhile open up your comms, threat, MSL, intercom & perhaps ILS knobs on the audio panel, as well as turning UHF to both (panel right above that)… Also turn on the “Aux Comms” panel the knob that says backup/CNI (IIRC that’s what’s written there) to the CNI position… It’s one of the first knobs supernova turns on… You probably want to turn on lightning even before engine start, depending on how realistic you want the startup to be… Once that’s done & engine is spooled up, go to the right panel in the back & turn all switches up & the knob to align (norm)… INS will then need about 4 minutes to align before you can set that knob to NAV position… then move back forward on the right panel & turn on air source to norm, continuing to the “sensor panel” turning on all those switches, though radar altimeter is not necessary it can be handy… Then you probably want to turn on the HUD, carrying on to the left… On the front left console you’ll want to turn on parking brake (anti-skid), turn ground jet enable on & back off (can also be done during taxi) & verify the stores config is set correctly… Little lower, turn on all switches on the “countermeasures panel”, open up HMCS brightness & turn on RWR (should be shown in supernova’s tutorial)… Also, I tend to use MAN mode for countermeasures but that’s up to you if you want it to be semi-auto or auto… Below the audio panel, turn on ECM & don’t forget to arm your ejection seat… At that point, you should be good to go, unless I’ve missed something crucial here which may be possible due to the late hour here :mrgreen:While this procedure is definitely not entirely complete (usually you would go through test buttons & test bits for FLCS & what nots, this should get you started properly for takeoff, again, unless I’ve missed something crucial
Let me know if you need any more help
EDIT: Forgot all about the ramp-start TE not having a block 40/50/52 though the procedure should be very similar… If you can’t get it to work, I can walk you through it tomorrow (in about 14-16 hours from now, i.e. 0430 UTC at this moment, so around 1830-2030 UTC)

Thank you v much Raffson. I have watched Supernova’s Youtube clip and found his F16 is different from mine as well… but I will try what you indicated above.

Have you selected the correct aircraft when in map screen? The default one is A10, so you must click on a F16 (IIRC)
-
Thank you Sir
-
It’s a cockpit of A-10A.
-
thank you Roccio, there was no choice for the “groundOps” training mission for aircrafts, maybe I am missing something…
-
Yes, you miss the manual that explains how the training mission should be handled:
please have a look in your doc folder for the bms training manualpage 9
Please note: you need to select the F-16 flight in the left window of the UI. By default the system will put you in the first seat available when you commit to 3D. Since A-10s are taking off earlier than this training flight you will end up sat in an A-10. Ensure you take a seat in the F-16 training flight instead.

Block 40, but starts pretty much the same as a Block 50/52. Made by Flogger (Rybo) who is a leader at my VFW, it’s a really high quality instructional vid that is simple and to the point. Hope this helps!

Thank you Sir
Not to laugh at you at all, but with you, this is quite funny indeed…. #insertlazystoneemojihere
Didn’t you check the tail number before climbing into the pit?
Btw if you were a member of my wing, your callsign would immediately be “30MM” no doubt about it lmao [emoji23]

thank you RedDog. Problem solved.
-
apparently not. yes quite embarrassed indeed…
-
don’t worry, it happens all the time
it’s part of the training - when you step in a MP mission or a campaign flight, you also always ensure you step the right flight
it’s good training to make that mistake -
+1 it’s just one of those that makes you chuckle.
Definitely don’t be embarrassed, especially if your first time messing with this kind of sim, most tactical aircraft have in general similar layouts and instrumentation so it is understandable.

Is it just me or does the “30mm” callsign sound super-cool??!

Dude hellllll yes, I’d be proud of that one, absolutely lol.
So long as it is said “Thirty Mike Mike”
No other way to say it!
So much win here lol, shall we have a callsign naming ceremony for the man at the squadron bar? Pretty sure he’s got SNACKO duties for a while around the place UFN.
