Ok so i have a logitech extreme 3d pro which works 100% no problems, i also have an xbox 360 controller which is picked up by Falcon BMS ingame and i have assigned the analogue sticks to be my Cursor slew and set up the other normal buttons to functions i use the most and it works great. I use both the joystick and controller and am surprised by BMS’s native support. Ok so here is the problem with the xbox controller, the dpad doesnt register ingame at all so you cannot assign anything to the 4 dpad buttons. I think it might be picked up in BMS as n POV hat switch. But when pressing them nothing pops up(description) but all other buttons do. How do i get the dpad to work on the xbox controller? 2nd question is in advanced controller ingame there is an option below field of view to do with zoom, i set them to the xbox triggers but when i fly thos buttons dont work as expected(zoom) anyway of explaining what that zoom option is? if i use my mous scroll wheel it zooms.

Hi again, We met at r/falconbms the other day.

        Docs/Falcon BMS Manuals/BMS-Manual.pdf 4.3.7.1 VIEW CONTROL Page
will answer you for your 2nd question.

“View Zoom Axis” only works while in outside views, it moves camera position closer/further from the plane.
(It should be called “DOLLY” in filming terms, not “ZOOM”)

If you want to “zoom” use Field Of View Axis.

If you are correct and the dpad is recognized as HAT, than that’s the cause. BMS only recognizes 1 HAT, on the main controller. You will need software to assign functions to the dpad. Don’t know if that’s possible for the XBOX controller……

Sup chihirobelmo, thanks for the help. I went into the keyfile manual and noticed the “pinky switch” function which is basically shift for joysticks. This function would help me with the dpad(i wont need it if i can press “pinky switch” and the button functions change). Now i read through the DX tutorial and have a basic idea of what to do. Just a question as i am away from my PC, if you assign the pinky switch and you go ingame to controlls page, would bms pick up if you press the pinky switch and another key ingame? In the controlls page if you press a joystick button it will show you what its assigned to and what button it is, does it show the same when pinky switch is held in?

@terminator(like your username XD) I wouldnt need to use the dpad if i can get pinky switch working but, can you set alternate “pinky shift” buttons ingame or must it be done with the keyfile generator?

Ah ok what would be the best way to approach this without starting from scratch, Importing my already made keyfile and then change from there or start a new keyfile?

It works like shift for the keyboard, holding it in for the set amount time specified makes it active then you can assign 2 functions for 1 button on the joystick.

WurminatorZA, thank you, going to try that one. Take it that it only works for button presses and not Coolie HAT type switches ?

Well i’ve been reading the manual a bit on keyfiles and looked at the limited amount of keyfile editor vids on youtube. It seems that you kan assign the hat switch buttons to the shift state aswell. So i think you can assign hat switch “buttons” too. I’m going to play around with it tonight and see what it can do. Just sucks that theres no logitech extreme 3d pro profile in the key file editor(only thrustmaster and saitek).

It works as shift key but you can’t check if you could correctly assign shifted keys from UI. You only can edit and check them by manually editing key files.

I played around a bit, ok so it seems that when you get the pickle working you will have to setup your joystick keybindings again. @Jurrasic we should fly together seeing as we are both new to BMS 🙂
