I’m in a Vet BoP and on day three the amphibious landing fleet spawned at 0900 hours and began sailing toward Montengro. It made ‘landfall’ near Dubrovnik then returned to Italy. But no troops disembarked. It this WAD?

Also, I noticed in the included file that lists the campaign objectives that it says something like 'Campaigns in this theater cannot be won in 10 days" What is meant by that?

It means that the campaign can go beyond ten days. If you take control over ground troops, you might be able to finish the campaign in 10 days or less

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, obviously these campaigns can be won more quickly, like under 24 hours for US and this BoP should take no more than four days, so I was curious what it meant.

What about the landing? Has that been ‘disabled’ so to speak? I was counting on trapping 3 infantry divisions behind the front at Split 😄

Are you saying the ships are going on land and they shouldn’t be?

No, what I mean is that in ‘older’ version of BoP (Allied Force) there was an amphibious landing conducted by Blue near Dubrovnik. The amphibious landing force spawns at 0900 hours on day three and then sails to Montenegro. In that older version, this landing fleet would then disembark a marine division or some such, landing behind the front and then proceeding to attempt to capture Mostar or Podgorica or whichever way they choose to go.

In this version of BoP the fleet spawns and sails as expected, but upon arriving at Dubrovnik they just turn around and go home without any troops being left behind.

For what it’s worth I overflew the fleet and it appeared to have a bunch of carriers, even though it says it is made up primarily of LSTs. I don’t know if I am being clear?

If I were in front of my flight box I could give you the unit of the landing fleet. For what it’s worth it spawned for me somewhere along the coast near Amendola. It uses the same AOG icon as a cargo/tanker ship. But if you mouse over it is says amphibious landing fleet or something like that (20-30 LSTs). It has waypoints to just west of Dubrovnik airfield, then back to Italy just offshore near Palese.

I’ll add this here instead of a new thread. In both Allied Force and in this Balkans theater, allied aircraft do not show on the 2D map. Never have. You clearly know the nuts and bolts of this theater, so any insight on why, or how to get Croatian or Albanian aircraft to show on the 2D map?

That’s a Relations issue that is incorrect in the .cam(campaign) file!! 😉

Also, there is no LST carrying units and there are no units sailing across the sea on LST’s and conducting a landing.

There are units sitting over near Dubrovnik that come in as reinforcements. The LST is the Newport and it is comprised of 9 Newport and 27 Wasp LST/LHD’s.

Like I said, there is no ferrying of troops in Falcon.

If the units that are set as reinforcements are not showing up then that is a flags issue and/or Brigade issue(Brigades are not necessary).

So if I understand the fleet is simply for appearances and the troops would be set to spawn at the ‘drop’ location? So likely the issue is in the troops spawning on the coast of Montenegro? When are the troops set to spawn? It’s been only about 8 hours since the fleet sailed for home (1300 hours on day 3). Maybe they will still spawn later?

It’s my first run on this Balkans BoP. Does anyone have a landing? Kinda hard to miss a couple of Blue divisions suddenly appearing behind the lines 😄

Yes, it is simply for appearances.

The Newport is set to arrive at 92hrs. The troops are set to arrive as reinforcements at 96hrs. They may possibly spawn later as reinforcement hrs set is only a estimate. You may want to stop the campaign and save and then go back in and see if they have arrived.

Like I said, it’s probably a Flags issue with the ground troops as they are set as B3, that should be removed. Also they are assigned to Brigades, they should be disconnected and the Brigades removed and then the ground units should be set as parents and inactive. Brigades, just like Divisions(which are virtual) are not required or needed for ground units to function correctly.

And as far as the Allied aircraft not showing on the 2D map, yes that is fixable.

Where do you find this info Cloud?

It did indeed take 4 hours for the amphibious fleet to sail across the Adriatic. It’s the 17th Amphibious Task Force for what it’s worth.

The thing is, I have only just now reached day four. The 17th ATF is again on the move. They have sailed to the tip of the peninsula near Amendola and have stopped (embarking troops, apparently). At 0500 (96 hours in) I expect them to set sail once again. We’ll see. It’s curious that the fleet seems to go through a ‘dress rehearsal’ one day early. But that’s what happened. I saw that and thought it was the real landing, but didn’t work correctly. But if your info is correct and I’m sure it is, the real landing is about to take place.

In the end, the fleet did not sail again. However at 0900 Day 4 three Marine battalions of the 23rd Division appeared. Kind of anti-climactic lol.

Didn’t matter much anyway as the campaign ended at 2000 hours Day 4. The campaign however counted as a loss. it was my fourth campaign win but now the logbook shows 3/0/1. That 1 is a loss right?

Edit: Just looked in the manual and it says the last figure represents stalemates.

Would you kindly explain how to fix showing allied/neutral units on 2D map, via .cam relations? Please.

I’ve been looking into that in Korean campaign, USA<>Japan<>SouthKorea, but had no luck then. Couldn’t achieve to see allied air/land units.
And now, by the new code (switch), units also have to be detected and identified

set g_bStrictFogOfWar 0 // Experimental! Forces the map and OOB to honor the unit spotted/identified status more rigorously (default 0/false)

For what is worth that ‘kinda’ worked in Allied Force. (Bosnia= brown, Croatia=white or yellow)

                                      …Thanks
