Carrier Landing. How to unlock the catapult?

Hey guys,

when doing carrier landings on the CVN-65 I have noticed that on several occasions if I land I immediately get locked into the catapult that is on the landing section.
Is there a way to unlock the catapult? Or does one have to take off and land again, hopefully not catching the catapult again?

also once you clean up your approach and land straighter, you should avoid getting hooked onto the cat at the end of the arresting cable
