Afternoon/Evening (or morning for that matter) for those of you across the globe….

The last time I played a variation of this game, it was the original Falcon 4 and loved every minute of it. Kudos to you guys (BMS) for continuing probably one of the best immersion military sims out there.

Okay, enough of the gushing… as a combat sim veteran and the United States Navy (carrier aviation), I took a break due to family obligations (children, new job… you know, that ol’ chestnut) and am getting back into the military combat sim world after 9 years.

I purchased a used X65F that was in mint condition and am really struggling with setting this stick up for this game and my quiet time while the wife and kids go to bed. Being an old simmer, I’ve tried the Excel route, and the “programming on the fly” method (yup, lawn darted a few times on that run). If anyone is out there to help an old dog with this trick, it would be greatly appreciated to get me up and running again.

Here’s my tech specs in case you need to know…
3 monitor (eyefinity set up) 2x22" 1x23" center
4th monitor via USB to DVI for external mfd
      2 x Thrustmaster MFCD
      Saitek x65f HOTAS
      CH Products Pro Pedals
Teamspeak3 (I also can run my own server)

      i5 3270 Quad Core - 8gb Memory - Radeon r9-270x video

      Previous Sims:
      Jane’s F/A-18 - Jane’s F-15 - Falcon 4 - MS FSX - MS CFS - Falcon Allied Force - DCS World (A-10C, FC3 & P-51D) - Elite Dangerous - Star Citizen

Frugal’s doesn’t ring any bells, I was the executive officer of the virtual VFA-115 squadron for Jane’s F/A-18 way back when…

Welcome back, Gunner, good to have you onboard.

Sorry I can’t help with the xf65 setup, but the stick seems well supported so I’m sure some folks in the know will chime in here.

I’m looking for a good HOTAS setup for the system that closely models the real thing, I’ve tried to program it myself but… it reminds me of trying to guess which way a football is going to bounce when it hits the ground… I’ve tried manually setting the DirectX (the desk now has a severe dent on the top from it meeting my head, rapidly, over and over), that funky key map generator (had a headache for a week after that), manually programming in SST while checking the default keybindings (woke up later that morning with a poor rabbit I must have strangled in my sleep that night)… oh, and did I mention the key map generator??? (Twitch)

I’m an older guy, just trying to map this stuff out is like trying to my taxes, while the tax manual is in German, with one arm tied behind your back, with the opposite eye covered, and singing the Star Spangled Banner out loud. I could have sworn this used to be a little easier…

…BTW get on the stick, so to speak…hahahaha

As soon as I can get a decent profile… you bet, I’m itching to drop some CBU’s, GBU’s and the occasional Maverick down someone’s throat that so desperately deserves it. (Can you tell I’m an Air to Ground specialist - just ask what aircraft I used to work on, you’ll understand).
