For a2a weapons, training ones are named like CATM-9M, -9P, -9X, -120A/B/C (for both C5 and C7 versions) meaning Captive Air Training Missile. The IRIS-T is a generic and rather old name going back to its development marketing tricks. Its name is A-2000 for the active missile and TA-2000 for the training one, but in some manuals is also referred as CATM-2000. In bird’s SMS though is displayed as T2000 for the training.
Training a2g weapons usually start with the “T” letter, like TAGM-65G for the training maverick G version, TAGM-88 for the harm, TGM-84 for the harpoon etc.

whats the deal with the acmi missiles. online info gives me the impression that they are just for data and training purposes but i dont think i understand what they do differently
The ACMI pod is used to track aircraft attitude which can be streamed live or played back during debriefs. The CATM (AIM-9 trainer) is just the seeker-head so the pilot gets realistic queueing and tones.

IIRC There is a way to make them show in a campaign. You need to use F4Browse and tacedit.
You have have to choose missiles that are not used. I chose the AAM-3, AIM-4C,D, and G and used them. The campaign only uses till about Weapon ID 699 I believe.
