      Hi, all.
At first, I would like to thank a BMS dev team for their hard work.
I’m really enjoying this great simulator.

I’m wondering if we can change the color of the sky at dawn/dusk, because I think the colorfulness of it is too strong.

In BMS, we usually see the purple sky at dawn/dusk, but I never seen like such color IRL.
I guess it’s hard to implement the “right” color, because I heared that each human races have different color-vison.

So I would like to suggest a function of changeable sky color.
I hope this suggest will be considered by the dev at some point.

      Regards,
      PeCa_Chuck

        Hi, guys.
I have just realized that I forgot to attache images for detail.

        Purple sky:

And I would like to report the another graphics issue.
You can see a area of gray/dark blue color in the following image.
I never seen like this area in real picture.

Gray/dark blue color area in the sky:

        I hope you understand.

        To devs:
I would be glad if you comment about this report.

        Regards,
        PeCa_Chuck

          Hi,
Based of my experience with Terragen (a software to render HD landscapes), the sky, light and mist as all other environmental data are defined by the program.
They are not pictures but parameters to set properly in the system.
30 min before sunset BMS displays nice sunsets with a blue or azur sky darkening and a yellow halo around the sun but 15 min before sunset it tursn to purple or brown.
I think that we can till much improve the texture of clouds and the way that light is diffused in the air, specially at sunrise and sunset (civil twilight). That will be a big improvement.
To take a few examples, I have never seen a burning sky or clouds layers in BMS as the below ones (real scenes).

Isn’t that area in the picture where the player bubble is fading out and not the sky?

Player bubble is not good term, since it is used for different AI spawn distances. They are not matching this visible distance. But you must be somewhat correct that it is the ‘rendering bubble’ that manifests itself. If sky and land would be knit together at max visual (land) range, it would give faulty horizon level and too small ground. So there must be something… admitted it looks just blur, but it is better than generic fog as in many sims. Or rather it IS that very good fog, but at very large distance?

                  …

But remember, color rendering is subjective and directly dependent to the temperature settings of your screen.

                    Hi, Dee-Jay.
                    Thanks for the post.

Ok, you showed two photos to demonstrate the accuracy of BMS’s graphics, right?
But I can’t see any common point in your photos, because it does not have border between sky/land and the area doesn’t looks dark like BMS’s graphics.

And I say again, I never seen such purple sky in real world even you showed a real photo.
You can see purple clear sky by your eyes at dawn/dusk, Dee-Jay?
I think most of people not see such color at every clear dawn/dusk.

Ok, if your opinion is right, and purple sky is caused by my LCD’s temperature setting.
Yeah, I just got some strange color objects in BMS world to get drak/blue sky, and my desktop color is also strange.
If you say I did wrong way to get it, plz teach me.

I think we should not bring some extreme/specific examle to demonstrate the accuracy, Dee-Jay.

                    Regards,

No … rather to show the non inaccuracy.

I think we should not bring some extreme/specific examle to demonstrate the accuracy, Dee-Jay.

Nothing extreme here. this is the only two pic I have here … but I saw some horizons closer to what you showed. Not so uncommon.

There are a lot of deferents horizon and skies IRL (moisture, temperature inversion, haze, mist, pollution etc …). can’t model all of them. If we do one (whatever it is) it could be wrong for the one, good for the others. Removing the haze band would no make it more realistic, keeping it neither.

You are searching the Holly Grail. You won’t find it. It is much more complex and can be perfect with only one defined setting.

Personally, I do not think it worth to spend hundreds of hours and delaying the future version for that (not adding much to the simulation actually)

The first picture from BMS is maybe not mist/fog.
If you select the game Instant Play or Dogfight say at 12:00:00 and turn your plane of 45 deg during a few time, you will see that this band at the edge of the horizon is always present and always show the same tickness and color.
If I compare it with the way that I setup the atmosphere in Terragen, in BMS it looks to a parameter delimiting the base of the atmosphere (or the tickness and height of mist)
In terragen it depends also on the landscape size (as it has to envelop it correctly). There is parameters to set the atmosphere, light and mist colors, and also their size and density. It seems that BMS work more or less the same.

So a BMS developer 'd search in the source code a parameter related to thickness and/or size, and color of the atmosphere and of mist and adjust them.
                        My one cent contribution 😉

                          Yes, a purple twilight exists.
This color can appear when there are much dust in the air (that can also look yellow) but not necessary
The below pic was taken in february in Luxembourg (on the web the purple is not obvious but it is much more intense in the RGB original)

I agree, I guess you guys have no time to implement the “truly” sky.
Because of this resource limitation, we should make some “typical” environment in the virtual world, isn’t it?

We see purple sky at every clear wether dawn/dusk?, No.
We see dark/gray band in most of photos?, No.
I think you guys don’t need to make it more “realistic”(only related to the sky), plz make it more “typical”.

Sorry for my bad english, Dee-Jay.

                                        Thank you for teaching, Dee-Jay.
I never know such meteorological phenomena.

So then, my question is “Is this phenomenon always happens in clear sky?”.
As I said, I think atmosphere implement should be “typical” in resource(time and/or number of man/woman for work) limited development environment.
