A good soundpack for 4.33, anyone?
-
The reason I’m asking is that in the 4.32 era I replaced the stock sound folder with an alternative, being, quite obviously, a community mod. Now for the life of me I can’t remember what it was. Do you guys mostly stick with the stock sounds, or do you use a replacement that you could recommend? This certainly isn’t a top priority request, nothing that really bothers me; what I would like to change though is the internal F-16 engine sound, especially when on AB. Any suggestions appreciated.

You can give a try to this one.
Question of tastes.Personally, I do not want to use “Hollywoodinan” sounds just for the sake of “immersion”. I know how it sounds IRL and what are the physiological feedback in a real jet, and exaggeration on sounds feedback is actually killing my own immersion. So for me, it would be counter productive.
But it is not the case for everybody. This is really subjective, and tied to what ppl (who maybe never flew in jet airplane) imagine. But not only … even some RL jet pilots who never paid a close (active) attention to what they feel/hear might think that BMS stock sounds are quite sterile. I do not know such guy, but I think it is possible.
So … It is only a question of POV. If some people prefer a high afterburner sound because they think that afterburner always gives you a kick in the pants, then they will be happy with a heavier sound. Probably also they do not imagine that afterburner is not always felt like they imagine … and IRL, it is only true at low speed and low altitude. When flying at 350Kts/FL250 , afterburners won’t kick your but. This is also true with air-brakes which produces absolutely no audible sounds … There is no absolute truth. As always … compromises are required.
But nobody will argue the fact that in a sim, we need audio feedback because of the lack of physiological sensations. Another good example is the pilot’s breathing sounds under G load. Without this … G’s are nothing but a numeric value displayed on the HUD. In that case, feedback are also more or less provided by camera movements.

PS: i did not remove the G-strain (hook hook) sounds… just “silenced” the normal breething fetish-gas-mask noise

I wasn’t talking about your soundmod.
