Anyone making these Warthog stick dust shields?
I was hoping I could order one of these, but the email bounces, so it looks like they are no longer available:
These Mylar discs have a slit cut in them that allows them to easily slip over the shaft at the top of the base. Although only .012″ (.3mm) thick, they are incredibly tough, I can not tear one apart with my bare hands. A punch/die set was machined to cut clean circles that are concentric after my test articles that were cut with scissors proved to work ok but were not very attractive and had to have looser tolerance on the ID.
I’m interested because it looks like good protection for the inner workings of the stick. I can improvise something but I’d rather have something more solid and with a good visual appearance.

Before I got hold of some real stick & throttle covers, I used to just pull my nomex gloves over them.
To be fair, the real covers are not dust sealed at all, so it’s not helping that much regarding dust

Tried contacting that website and got a response:

Still making these?
Yes I am and they’re easier to get now than before, the link for them is active on my site and paypal automates the process http://www.dualsticks.com/dustshields/
so, i might get one of those Dust disks if i dont force mod my Hog
Regardless, I make my own covers…
Seems like these were originally done by a guy from the SimHQ forums… left a message on his thread and PM’ed him.

I installed the FSSB R1 mod in my Cougar stick some time ago and remember thinking at the time about dust . The cover plate had a gap around the stick base. What I did was slip the original boot and metal ring over the adapter before mounting the handle. Doesn’t affect calibration and keeps the guts clean.
The mysteries of the internet.
Order submitted and impending Warthog thoroughly protected and camo dust cover pretty.
I’m pleased to report the dust shield has arrived.
It’s quite a thin plastic, but if it was any thicker it would be difficult to mount. The dust shield is a perfect fit and does not look out of place at all. Highly recommended to help protect the sticks internal workings.

What I use is two cotton T-shirts. I can’t wear em anymore and one is actually a Nellis USAF T-shirt. I just lay one shirt over the throttle real nice and the other shirt goes over the stick. It covers them as well as the Cougar Covers I was able to buy years ago. One of my T-shirts are Military green and the Nellis shirt is dark blue. To be truthful, and for the sake of the purpose of covering, the shirts do the same job if not better.
And it does keep deep dust out that will settle in over time. Cover em with cool T-shirts of your choice. Mine are X-Large.
