Newbie looking for active virtual squadron.

Hi,
My name is Nick, my ign for most games is click.
I have recently re-installed BMS and am getting back into the swing of things. Last time I played was about 2 years ago and it wasn’t longer than about a month or two. I had been introduced to it through the Arma II ACE community UO but didn’t really stick with it because I was not dedicated enough to learn all the controls. Since re-installing I have taken the time to learn all of the switches in the cockpit and I can complete a full ramp start with no caution or emergency notifications. I can taxi, follow proper take off procedure, use the UHF to communicate with the tower, use the navigation function on the avionics to navigate steer points, and finally follow proper landing procedure without damaging the plane.
What i cannot do is use or employ the weapon systems and my training scripts seem to be bugged so I would like an active squadron to help me move towards the next steps. I’m central/USA so my time is very flexible I would prefer to find a group of guys who always have people on or have people on most of the time. I will take the time to practice and maybe I can become an asset to your team.
Thanks
EDIT: I still remember some of the in flight lingo also if that helps any.

Also, FYI, a ton of info here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?13653-Arty-s-Hot-List
Edit:
Also, Kraus’ tutorial on YouTube are a great way to get some basic instruction on most of the primary weapon systems:

+1 on this.
Also, the following docs are useful to go deeper into the ACs systems :
- BMS-Dash1
- BMS-Manual
You can find them in your install folder.

Perhaps this is a good time to stop and think what you’d like to get out of your stick-time.
Are you willing to go ’ all the way ’ then there are only a (very) few squads that have set such a realism policy. E.g. just to be able to pass the start of the learning curve to pass the ‘recruit’ status might take up to (some times over) a year.
Do you want to fly Co-op server setups, e.g. F-O stuff or Veterans gaming (if it’s still up though), then a lot of SQ are suitable imho. They teach you all the necessary steps to be able to navigate & communicate with fellow humans in the theatre, sorting bandits, choice of weapons, methods to deploy them, etc.
If you want some ’ in between ’ SQ, then be aware that most SQ’s have their own - as you call it - Lingo, rules and procedures and derive training skills for a part of their ’ home -based’ f16 RL SQ’s. Quite a few have connections to RL fighter pilots, who sometimes are willing to give hints for useful training exercises, and even some help in setting up more RL COMAO - TE’s, if you’re lucky even with SPINS (Special Instructions).
Ok, all in all, perhaps ask around with some SQ’s what flavor they employ and see it that fits your taste.
Also, if you like to do some specific training, you could also post that request here on the forum… my experience is that quite a few are more then willing to give you training practice which are really instructive and fun.
Just my 2 cents,
Regards,
Fan
