@drtbkj:
Good Day, All,
I’m new to the Warthog, and have a question about setting up the throttle base switches. .I’ve downloaded TARGET(for the next project of getting the throttle pov to work)but have done no programming via it.I’m only using the BMS Alternate Launcher (AL).
Let me give 2 examples: 1)I want to set up the “EAC” switch as my CAT l/lll. AL is showing CAT I Dx24
CAT III Dx24 REL.
2) I want the “LASTE” switch to be my alt hold/off/att hold switch. AL shows Alt Hold DX 27
off DX27 rel
DX28 rel
Att Hold DX 28
All were programmed with the “Invoke down” indicated.
However, in-sim, none of the "release commands work. CAT I ,att hold, and alt hold do work.
I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.
First off, you won’t need the Target software for the throttle POV if you use Voice Attack already. Just use VoiceAttack to program the throttle POV. Make sure you enable Joysticks on the VoiceAttack opening box (before editing a specific profile… You’ll see some icons on the right… One of them looks like a game controller… It toggles enabling of the Joystick(s), so that VoiceAttack sees the POV button position pressed when set up in the editor.
Using my layout as a guide for what you may want to do… Get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/uigjrlbkn44xtob/Custom__F4BMS_TM_Stick-Throttle_Layouts.xls/file
You can open it with MS Excel or Open Office Calc. I extracted it from another file in the BMS installation docs and changed the switches to editable text (which you now edit/change if you want things coonfiguted different on your Warthog). I keep it on the PC screen for quick reference/editing.
We’ll use some buttons on it as examples. You may have noticed that several of these switches are only a single switch though they toggle both ways.
So, let’s say you want to program Switch No. 24 (lower left hand corner of the throttle base) to Open the Fuel Air Refuel Door and when you pull the switch back to the (non-switch position) it closes the Fuel Air Refuel Door.
Step one… Search for “refuel” in the Alt Launcher… Double click on FUEL AIR REFUEL Switch - OPEN to get the input box.
Now that you have the input box open… There’s a White button that says Invoke BOTH… That’s actually a 3 way toggle that defaults to Invoke BOTH… In this case we want to click on it (probably once) to get it to say Invoke KEYDN. This tells the switch to take the button you push and treat it like the key is pressed down (and not released yet), which is okay. When you flip the switch forward you should see JOY 0 DX24 INV: DN;. If not, pull the switch back and Clear DX and try again. Once you get it correct. Save. After you save, retiurn the switch to the back/off (non-switch position) before proceeding.
Now, Double click on FUEL AIR REFUEL Switch - Close to get its’ input box
Again using the Invoke BOTH toggle button… switch it again to Invoke KEYDN, then press the RELEASE button to turn it white. Move the switch forward again as above. You should see JOY 0 DX24 REL INV: DN, If not, pull the switch back, Clear DX and try again. Save when correct (What you have done is told the input box to take the switch you are choosing to set the function to Release from the key being down.).
Seems kinda strange doing it that way, but actually moving the switch back to the non-switch position is not readable since it’s not a recognized switch, so you have to tell the switch to function on the RELEASE of the actual switch that you move.
You can do this with any of the other similar switches on the Warthog Stick and Throttle, just remember you work with the actual 'working" switch position. There’s even some switches that are 3-way toggles, with the center being a non-switch position. Just treat the forward and back switch positions each one similar to the one-way switch described above.
Have fun!
edit> btw, here’s a pic of what the Alt Launcher looks like after programming a “3-way Boat” switches (DX:9 and DX:10) on the TM Warthog throttle: http://www.mediafire.com/view/oo54ja8xea0j9un/Alt%20Launcher%20key%20and%20key%20release%20example.jpg#
Notice the “double” entry for TQS: DOGFIGHT Switch - MRM/DF Cancel. That’s because you invoke it twice… Once on the release of DX9 KEYDN and again on the release of DX10 KEYDN.
