RE: Skinning
@Icarus I’m not sure why it refuses to work either. What I’ve been doing is copying the orginal 8011 so I can work on it. I open it in paint.net. All I have been doing is adding some text artwork to the seat with a name /callsign on it. I then save it. As per a post I found from I-Hawk I have been saving it as DXT-1 with MIP mapping. I then remove the original from the Korea objects folder and drop in my modded 8011 into the folder. I have even done this for the hi-res folder too. Neither works. I have even used an old modded 8011 supplied by one of my old VFW’s (so I know that file is good), dropped that into Korea objects and still all I get is the same basic blank cockpit seat. I don’t understand why?

RE: Skinning
@Icarus Thanks but i don’t want the IAF cockpit seat. I don’t plan on flying the IAF F16’s. I just want to customise the cockpit seat for standard USAF/ROK F16’s.

RE: Skinning
@Icarus I was under the impression the cockpit .dds file 8011 was common to all F16 models with the expection of IAF F16’s? I can only find those two in the objects folder?

RE: Skinning
@Icarus so i see I have confused myself.
I have found the F16 texture set list and located the .dds files. However, I tried modding the cockpit seat file 8011. I opened it in paint.net, added my artwork, saved it, put it back into the Korea objects folder (keeping copy of oringal to one side )and yet still the cockpit seat remained unchanged. I don’t know what i am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Skinning
Hi all,
I’m an old Falconeer who is currently trying to get myself back up to speed with 4.37 and also teach my eldest the sim.
I would like to say thank you to the BMS team and all the devs and community for keeping this amazing simulator going and it’s nice to see some names i recognise still posting on the forums.
Anyway I would like to make some custom tail art for me and my padawan learner. Back in the day we used paint.net and LOD editor to make and install your custom skins into the sim (tail art etc).
From the information I have read in the forums it seems we no longer use LOD editor and now use 3ddb builder instead? I have tried running this tool but nothing is being generated in the LOD, Parents, Textures folder and I don’t understand why.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where i can read up on this in the forums as i am struggling to locate the relevant information.
Thank you,
Rich_EXF (formerly Bolt 1st VFW/440th VFW)

RE: Replacing microstick double pot - latest intelligence please
@Red:
soldering one is easy. The hard part is unsoldering the faulty one when you need to salvage the PCB
This is correct. When i did this a few weeks ago, i couldn’t get the old microstick to free from the PCB despite me removing all the solder. In the end i had to use a junior hacksaw to separate the two. That damaged a couple of PCB tracks slightly and i ended up having to solder a couple of wires on to repair the damaged connections when i mounted the new microstick.

RE: Ground War Action Video
Cool perspective. Never watched the ground war like this before.

RE: Can anyone generate random weather fronts for 4.34?
F4Wx is awesome. Can’t imagine BMS without it.

RE: Replacing microstick double pot - latest intelligence please
If you send Red Dog a PM he may have some spare PCB’s and microsticks for sale. It will require a bit of soldering but it’s perfectly doable. I would advise getting the PCB too as it’s easy to damage the old one when you try and unsolder the old microstick.
