I just can’t understand how someone can complain about a feature that may not be for them, but at the same time doesn’t take anything away from them, just gives some “other” guys an extra fun. It’s just wrong to demand all dev’s attention, time and effort for themselves, and themselves only (especially if the devs are working on it in their spare time, for free, and they wanted this feature too).

RE: 4.37 VR cockpit scale feels off
Hi guys,
yes, this is a known issue with every 3D game, especially with simulators, where the scaling is important. The adjustable IPD (Inter-Pupillary Distance) is the key. Possible the program can read out the IPD value from the VR googles, but that is usually wrong (this issue appeared with DCS VR and with Cliffs of Dover VR too).
Need two extra keyboard key for IPD increase and decrease and a new conf.ini line for changeable default value.
Changing the FOV is not the solution here, that do different thing, and not to mention changing the FOV will distort the perspective view too. VR zoom will be always weird, but that is OK, there is no better solution for that.
And obviously this is not a 3D model issue either, so nobody should touch anything 3D related.

Well it is Hoggit …
A discussion about the old classic Falcon 4 manual/binder. And then these comments on BMS…
Anyone care to help them out? They only joking (perhaps Demongod isn’t, He bit the bait). Just read it again: “don’t get sucked in by things like amraams working”…

How long will VR improvements take? Will development of other areas of BMS keep apace? It seems to me new shiny features for the minority are transplanting all other requests. This kind of happened with the last few releases and MP vs SP.
You can join BMS any time and work on stuff what you think its more important for the majority lol.

Joystick Hat Switch macro - antimicro
Hi guys.
Firstly I wanted to ask help, but I have found a solution later. I write this post because I saw mentioning this small program only one or two times on this forum, and I think it’s worth to mention in a separated topic.
Recently I had problems with the Hat Switches on my G940 throttle. There is two POV on the throttle, one POV on the stick, and another one on my ICP module. This is too much for BMS, so I used keystroke macros. Sadly my Logitech Profiler stopped working, I mean the software still running fine, but the Win10 can not recognize the keystrokes anymore.
So I had to find an alternative solution. I tried the Universal Control Remapper, and some other, noname small programs too, none of it worked.
Then I have found the antimicro.
This small program is super easy to use, it recognized all of my controllers, and all of their axis, buttons and hat switches immediately right after start. I set my keystrokes to my Hat Switch directions, the Win10 (and BMS) recognized them without any issue. I have been using it for weeks and have had no problems since then. Here is the link if anyone interested:

RE: Not looking forward to the VR update
@Gancio said in Not looking forward to the VR update:
@Atlas I’m not sure I can play in VR. I’m playing inside my 1:1 full functional cockpit and maybe a solution that involve a mixed view ( real+synthetic) could be interesting
In theory this is a good idea, and the Varjo already made VR + Extended Reality headset, but my biggest concern is the lights, and of course the game specific features like night vision and HMCS display. The Unreal Engine is capable to use smart lights for virtual production scenes (where the actors play before a LED-wall background), illuminates the room environment just like it would be in the 3D scene, but you can imagine that is quite expensive, and I doubt BMS would add this feature at all. Without this, the cockpit light always would be the same what you set in your room.
I think the full VR is still better feeling, simply because your cockpit and environment always matching together. I really looking forward the VR in BMS, because I like it in other simulator (not DCS lol), and I think this is a real progression compared to desktop view (the sensation of 3D space around you is awesome)

RE: 1 project 3D for a beginner by Repman
@repman said in 1 project 3D for a beginner by Repman:
Anyone know why?
thanks in advance
Yes, it called “padding”. In SP look the “Padding” settings on the export parameters screen, there you can choose:
- infinite (this results),
- set an exact number of padding (4-16 pixel is usually enough) with different color or transparency options,
- or switch off the padding completely (not recommended in most cases, only if you want post painting work with them)
The reason of padding is that 3D models use vectors between the vetricles, meantime the textures use pixels on the same area. The problem is the diagonal edges. If you paint only the exact pixel area of UV map, it’s possible to see white pixels on the edges because the steps of the pixels can not follow exactly the vectors. I hope you understand what I trying to say Lower resolution cause bigger roblems (UV map vectors have no units, independent from the texture resolution).
You have to use couple of pixel gaps between the UV islands because of the same reason. The pixels cover a little different area than UV map vectors, therefore you need to use some buffer zone around the UV islands.
The texture painters usually paint larger area than UV map, add an extra pixels around the UV islands, prevent to see these white errors on the edges.

It’s an F-16 D-52+ RSAF

RE: 4.37 VR cockpit scale feels off
@Snake122 Hi, I think the root of this issue that the eye distance of the users are different, and the depth perception, the scale of the surrounding world is strongly connected to this exact distance. How their brain learned and used this view difference before. If you put a VR goggle on a user, and the two small display show them pictures generated from a different distance, your brain will process that pictures as a different scaling than usual. This is why you will get different opinions and different results if you ask the users, because everyone perceives their surroundings slightly differently, someone will see the 4.37 cockpits in perfect size, someone will feel smaller.
This is what the IPD (Inter-Pupillary Distance) settings intended to solve in all VR games (distance between the VR left and right camera viewpoints). This value should be changeable by users.
This is independent from camera center position, if someone feel that camera is not in the good position, lower or further back than it should, or how big the pilot model is. Then you will see the cockpit from a different spot, but the scaling would be still OK. The camera position will not affect the IPD issue at all.

Last time I paid them was the F-18 five years ago, but I remember that was small too.

@Korbi Ah, OK, I thought it was about the HMD one. Sorry.
Our experience in Cliffs, and I know the DCS also had the same issue that the IPD value provided by VR goggles are useless. Don’t ask why, but the vast majority of VR users reported that the IPD customisation by users was the real solution. Perhaps the code don’t even care much of VR goggle settings? I wouldn’t be surprised if this would be the case…

RE: Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
@CriticalMass It seems this is enough, delete Auto key meantime replaced the Full with the Blank, and next restart the key list was empty in AL. I already set my keys, and works well in BMS.

@CriticalMass Thank you it’s working now. I deleted the BMS - Auto.key, and restarted AL, and it’s empty now. Thank you

@CriticalMass Thanks, but I started with this Overwrite the BMS - Full.key with the “Blank” in the Config folder. Doesn’t work, AL start with the same keysets as before.

RE: Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments)
Sorry for the lame question, I started using alternate launcher only because of 4.37, and I am stuck with the option of load and save keymaps. I want completely empty keymap list, because I use my own keys, I don’t even know the originals, and I don’t want to switch anything accidentally.
Could anyone help me in this, how can I load the BMS-Empty.key, or how can I delete the alternate laucher keys with a few clicks? Going through on the list and delete every keys manually is very far from how I planned to spend my evening, so anyone who know any solution, please help.
Thank you in advance!

RE: 4.37 VR cockpit scale feels off
@LorikEolmin Yepp, this is basically a vr goggle issue, the default IPD value is not suitable for everyone, and even if the lens distance changeable, and the IPD value can be read out from the goggles, many players reported that their custom settings is much better than the default settings.
Perhaps other programs use different name for the same settings, “world scaling” also correct, but the difference will be noticeable only in the cockpits anyway.
The good news that the fix is usually quick (I am not a coder though), but our coder in Cliffs’ came up with the solution very quickly.
