I can see it. Since the optics of the weapons are all aligned identically during manufacture boresighting a single missile on a rack of multiples gives the proper rack offset to the computer for all weapons on that mount. I’m just surprised there isn’t a pre-programmed standard offset input to the targeting computer when the weapons are loaded.
*shrug.
In LAU-88 racks the #2 and #3 missiles will still have their covers after you’ve blown the #1 missile’s cover and used it to boresight the entire LAU.
Thanks. I always find it better to know how / why things operate the way they do when trying to use them in the field.
AESA radar: $30
Electronic emissions receiver: $20
INS: $5
TACAN: $5
Gun: $5
Rear aspect IR missiles: $10
SARH missiles (requires a radar): $10
ARH missiles (requires a radar): $15
ECM: $20
Flares: $10
Chaff: $10
RWR: $5
Total $145
… tho I must ask why is the RWR and Electronic emissions receiver not the same thing ? Wouldn’t the RWR be part of the ESM suite ?
@Cloud:
They are in the DB for each specific aircraft.
There are role scores as such: None/Cap/Tac/Strike/Cas-Int/Strat Bomb/ECM/Sead/ASW/Anti-Ship/Recon/Transport/Elint-Awacs/JSTAR/Tanker/FAC.
I’d tell you how to get to it in F4Browse, but that would cause a furry flurry of “DON’T USE F4BROWSE”….LOL
So you can either use it, or use the BMS Editor. Your choice. Just look for the role scores in the Squadron/Flight.
The mission.dat determines mission profiles, Alt, amount of aircraft, escorts and a host of other things. To many to list.

Does the DB also have control of WHEN the missions are scheduled ? It’s drivin’ me nutz to see my squadron in campaign suspend flight ops at night. I’m thinking it was A/C related but haven’t had time to search the DB.
After they have been boresighted, you will have already removed the dome covers. To do the boresighting.
Wasn’t sure if they were a part that jettisons, or an internal cover that that moves back into place when the head gets caged.
One difference between D and G is G is capable of “AREA” targeting. Make sure you’re not in area tracking mode before attempting to boresight for the most reliable results.
I don’t know if the Ds always have dome covers but they should in cases where they are mounted more than one per rack which of course with the G is impossible. It may even be done if more than one rack is on a single side of the airplane (e.g. 3 & 4) but that’s an unusual configuration.
It’s possible to boresight the missile against any SPI, even the VIS box. Point track is just the most precise.
Ahhhh, now it makes sense. After MANY nights of trying I finally got D’s boresighted as per the training mission on a CLEAR day, but the overcast training (as well my campaigns) are all inclement weather making point track boresighting extremely difficult in the air.
Just a procedure question- after the D’s are boresighted and repowered for attack, do the dome covers need to be manually removed before designating with the TGP ?
Hey,
If you change a squadron, you want to use the resupply in MC when you change the aircraft type.
Thats what the functions are added forThe .his has nothing much to do with this as this data is not saved there. Its much more simpler than that.
The stores that the squadron has are for the old sq, not for the new one.
All stored in the mission file (.cam/.tac)The same is true for the pilots and aircrafts in use. These are also from the old squadron.
Depending on if you deleted all the flights or not, you want to clear all the pilots and aircraft.
Else the mission will not get generated or aborted as there are no pilots and/or aircraft available.Gr Falcas

That was my experience as well. After changing A/C the squadron stores remained as for the old A/C and rather than wait for the natural resupply schedule and fly with limited stores, I pushed the resupply for the new A/C so I could have available what the new A/C needed to be effective.
I also did not delete any of the already assigned missions that used the previous A/C, but noted all new created missions after the A/C change were assigned using the replacement A/C. As a bonus I also noted any previous A/C already scheduled but not inflight were also using the new stores available.
So far I’m not game enough to try to edit a campaign creation file to force it to use a different A/C, I didn’t see a need to since a seconds old ‘new’ campaign save can be so easily edited.
On holliday now. Will try it.
While you’re in MC changing the squadrons A/C type, don’t forget to force a resupply or you might find your new A/C doesn’t have stores to use. I’ve edited a saved campaign twice using this method, and both times I had to manually force a resupply in MC, or wait till the scheduled resupply to get the stores my replacement A/C can use.
The only difference in BMS as far as boresighting is concerned is that the D model has dome covers, which you need to remove with UNCAGE. Assuming you’ve done that I can’t think of any other reason why you would struggle with D’s but not with G’s.

*shrug
Me either, but the G’s boresight fine, even on the ground. I haven’t tried a single weapon tho, my failures all occur with the triple rack, and all on the same A/C.
