This isn’t specifically about the X56, Cougar, etc. but about the Extreme 3D Pro…… if my cash (trickle) allows it, I’m likely to avoid Logitech flight gear altogether… the twist/yaw section of the X3D seems to be deliberately assembled to fail in mere months. I’m on my 4th in 2 years. I’d actually come to this topic to see if anyone mentioned the ridiculously short life of the X3D yaw axis and if it is also the case on “superior” sticks? Other than the yaw breakage, it’s a pretty decent stick.
Didn’t intend to commandeer the topic… it appears some on board have taken the re-soldering approach.

RE: Help! Want a 3-axis stick (rudder twist) and a throttle - what are my options?
CybrSlydr…… I’ve seen among the replies the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro mentioned… bang-for-the-buck, it’s great. On my 3rd in 6 years; in my case the rudder axis takes a beating. I’ve always stuck with Krause’s .key file as the base upon which to set up my HOTAS switches. Once calibrated and using certain less-worn USB slots, the Falcon experience is precise and reliable.
The FIRST thought I got reading your inquiry was that your system’s horsepower should come first… best affordable graphics card, OS, and of course RAM. THEN when you get the stick you want it’ll be at LEAST what you hoped for and probably more.I think you mentioned DCS… in MY just-adequate flightsim experience, owner of A-10c Warthog and Blackshark 2, my NVIDIA GTX 970 is just-adequate. The prospect of having to upgrade to get beyond tolerable performance? I’d so much rather be shopping for a higher-end stick and throttle.
Regarding pedals… now this isn’t an F-18 or A-10 I’m talking about, but actual Cessna 2 or 4-seater… I hate pedals… a lot… taxiing with floppy pedals and rudder that may or may not over-react… I don’t get it. In a vertical climb to stall the pilot I used to go flying with said “if the rudder cable breaks, we’re done!!!” I don’t know if stick-steered aircraft actually control rudder with twist but I don’t get in sync with pedals well. Know what you mean about space to set up… I call my rented 20’x20’ “the most expensive walk-in closet in Maryland”. I have a 6’ long Roland Fantom synthesizer I can’t set up with a sofa in the room
Don’t know where you’re located but a couple months ago I found a great deal on Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for $20. If you have Office Depot or Staples near, take a pass thru store’s clearance stock. Again, bang-for-the-buck while you make gains on horsepower in your system. -
RE: F/A 18C HORNET FULL EDITION (Photoreal Cockpit & Photoreal Skin)
Fantastic achievement here. I’ve yet to fly it but know it’ll be significant improvement.
I’ve often wondered about military aircraft cockpit hardware and its grunge, how it has aged so, as if scraped and banged? I wonder if the space shuttles’ interiors have such wear and tear?
Thank you for your excellence…… Merry Christmas 2017 and Better New Year!
