Seifer’s recent thread and a few other threads on Reddit seems to show that some people seem to have lost sight of what BMS is.
Simply put — BMS is not a commercial product. It is not a business. Let us not forget this.
Think of it this way — the BMS devs are hosting a house party and for the most part, it’s an open-door, everybody-welcome party. All you need to enter and join the fun is a purchase of Falcon 4.0. You are free to bring drinks, pizza, music, and even other friends to the party (but they too must buy F4.0), and maybe you see that the house where the party is being held has a very old sofa… you can either repair the sofa or bring in your own to offer and replace that sofa with. You can, of course, mock the devs for hosting a party in a house with an old sofa, but don’t be surprised if you will not be in anyone’s good graces after.
Oh, you see that the recreation room has a tacky pink wallpaper? You can offer to replace the wallpaper, re-paint the wall, etc. and you can, of course, just laugh at the devs for their lack of taste and probable “alternate” lifestyle, but don’t be surprised if you will not be in anyone’s good graces after.
At the end of the day, whether BMS has 10,000 players or 100 players, the devs will be no richer or poorer for this. The 9,900 other players who have now lost access to BMS will definitely notice their sudden lack of study-sim level options. Once more — this is not a commercial product. Any “say” we have as fellow enthusiasts can be picked up or ignored as devs see fit; they do not owe us anything.
We can either play nice and be invited to and continue to enjoy the house party or we can act like babies and watch as the BMS devs take the party to “invite only.”
We are guests here. Let’s not be rude to our hosts. (and let’s play nice with the other guests)
Just my 2 cents… I’ll get off my soapbox now. Thanks for coming to my talk.
