RE: StreamDeck 8x4
@qawa @greatcouloir
Absolutely brilliant idea guys!
Even with a replica cockpit myself, I would be very interested in something that changes views (key 0) and the like. I got a 5x3 deck and would totally see the value in upgrading to a larger format for this! -
RE: StreamDeck 8x4
@qawa
LOL, hope you took no offense as no offense was meant. I’m a new Stream Deck owner but I just use it to open programs, folders, etc. as I’m not a content creator. I was curious what you thought could be done with the Stream Deck for BMS. -
RE: VAC Website Down_VAC crashes in Win10
@luvtofish
While I’ve not used VAC for years, it was a great program but simple. VoiceAttack is much more advanced and I’m using @SemlerPDX 's profile with no complaints. -
RE: Pimax Crystal BMS experience
@Archer
If I had gotten the replacement in 8-10 days, then I would’ve been happy. But no, I even had to request a refund 3x before they acted upon it. If I had gotten my refund processed as soon as I said so, I would be in a slightly better mood with regards to Pimax but having to escalate each and every refund request was just taking the piss.They need to either tighten up their QC so less and less headsets go out faulty or sort out their customer service so that any issues are dealt with swiftly and smoothly. Ideally both.

RE: Pimax Crystal BMS experience
@Archer
The hardware is good, if you get a good one. Unfortunately, it seems like the hardware is hit or miss, which shouldn’t be a problem for a high-end device pushing the limits, but the bigger problem is that their customer support is downright atrocious considering the market they are targeting.I hate to say it but I bought a Quest 3 which is about half the price of the Crystal and I know if it conks out, I just need to walk into my local Curry’s (PC store here in UK) and I can walk out with a replacement unit. I waited 3-4 weeks and still didn’t have a replacement Crystal when I initiated my refund request.
While I’ve definitely noticed a difference in the FOV, I have actually seen an improvement in what I can see with the Quest 3 compared to the Crystal… albeit I’m comparing the Quest 3 with a defective Crystal unit.

RE: new HOTAS devices
On the contrary, I believe more != better.
If all the new stuff had good quality and were durable, then yes, more options would be good. I doubt that’s the case. -
RE: Pimax Crystal BMS experience
I’m so glad I returned my Crystal earlier this year. Never buying from Pimax directly again. When Amazon carries this, I will consider getting it.

RE: Quest 2 vs Quest 3
@okayasugf
Let me put it this way — I come from owning a HTC Vive, then a Reverb G2… at which point I struggled to spot the tanker on the AAR TE when the tanker is clearly visible when playing on a monitor. I then got a Pimax Crystal which was just a headache and I don’t even remember being able to spot the tanker either. The picture on the Crystal is better than on the G2, but I can’t explain why I still had trouble spotting the tanker. Mind you, the headset was considered faulty by Pimax tech support in the end so maybe that was the issue and a fully-working Crystal would’ve allowed me to spot the tanker at TE start.Anyway, I now have the Quest 3 (never tried the Quest 2 so can’t compare) and it just… works. I have the Virtual Desktop app on my PC, purchased through Steam and got BMS working through there. Since I’m experimenting with some passthrough and hand-tracking mods, I had to buy Virtual Desktop again on the Meta Store, but that’s a different story altogether. I digress… with the Quest 3, I can spot the tanker on TE start which is maybe 7-8nm away.
I’m also enjoying my flights without having to worry about how the cable is flowing behind me and getting caught up between my back and the chair. I’m also just now exploring some standalone apps when I just totally ignored all of that before.
And here’s the biggest plus — I can move around my house, go grab a drink, a snack, and “take care of biznez” without having to take the headset off.
Now as a new Quest 3 user, I have little knowledge on how the magic happens between PC and headset especially over a wireless connection. It could all be black magic! So no clue about your PC specs vs. expected headset performance, so maybe someone else can correct me here, but unless really strapped for cash, can you not buy a Quest 3 and just run with lower eye candy specs?

RE: Understanding Quest 3
@69tantra
Sensitive it is then. I remember when I first started out, I needed to have a fan on all the time so that my face and body could get ventilation. I would also drink water before and during VR play. -
RE: Customize the alt launcher
@airtex2019
If you could do that, as well as giving users the ability to add their own programs to the list, that would be awesome! -
RE: Customize the alt launcher
@oakdesign
Thank you very much! Will give this a try soon! -
RE: Customize the alt launcher
@Icarus
1 click vs. 7 clicks. Convenience. Just like having shortcuts on the desktop rather than having to go to each folder of each program just to click on the .exe for those programs. -
RE: Considering a Quest 3, some questions please
I’m trying out some passthrough apps or handtracking so that I know at least a little bit where my digits are during flight but I’ve noticed that when enabling passthrough, there is a little lag on the edges of the display when I move my head and I can see my room for the brief instant when the picture has moved but the picture at the edge of the display has not yet been drawn in.
If playing with the exact same settings but without passthrough, I can shake my head at the same speed and I don’t get any of this “sneak peek” effect. With passthrough, I don’t even have to move my head very quickly, just a normal-speed turn-my-head-around-to-check-for-#2 and I get this effect.
Does this happen to anyone else?
If someone can please share their optimised Virtual Desktop app settings, that would be great!Why does my screenshots look like this:
Those black sections were definitely not in my view when I took the screenshot!
When I start up Virtual Desktop on the headset, I get this:
“Streaming performance will be degraded”
Is there any way to fix this?Thanks!

RE: Virtual Desktop and Quest 3
@rubbra
Yes but I’ve not had to do this with the Virtual Desktop Steam app, so I get caught out all the time. -
RE: Questions about bullseye IRL
@williang83 said in Questions about bullseye IRL:
It is possible to change in RL? I think so since you have this page.
I believe it does and must change in RL ops so that the enemy cannot “listen in” and learn of enemy positions.
But how does AWACS behave once you change it? At this point, it leads to question whether actually bullseye is something package or flight related rather than theater related.
AWACS behaviour in the sim? Or IRL? IRL, it should just be the same, you’re just going to be at a different bullseye location once the actual bullseye changes, even if your own position hasn’t changed. Since bullseye calls are transmitted over a frequency shared by many, many flights and packages, it is theatre/date or even time related.
Maybe the reason you can change in DED is for example is the bullseye changes at 00:00 hours and you do a night flight, take off at 23:45, you can change your bullseye 15 minutes into the flight.

Please share how to do this skip thing! -
RE: Customize the alt launcher
@Mike-0
That might well be it! Could you share what you have or possibly a tutorial? -
RE: Virtual Desktop and Quest 3
So now I have Virtual Desktop both through Steam and through the Meta store.
Is there a performance difference between the two?
Annoying that the Meta version needs a program to be running on the PC for it to work, whereas the one on the Desktop does not.Please share your (Meta) Virtual Desktop settings!
