4.38 Screenshots
Let’s make a thread and save all. 38 shots we’ve seen so far! Nice to have them all in one place.

Pics of your flight setup / home cockpit
I couldn’t find a thread for this and it’s always fun seeing what other people use to fly BMS with so I’ll go first.
Here’s my little corner in the basement.

I just turned 40!

RE: Well done BMS team and MicroProse
Well done BMS team! Very impressive! Thanks a lot!

Another thank you for 4.36!
Been flying 4.36 now for almost two weeks, trying to get a few missions done in the campaign (Balkans) each night. Today I flew a dead profile and attacked an air defence batallion of SA5 and SA6. Managed to keep my TOT and TOS perfect and joined up with my package.
While my wingman ran out of fuel on the way home and our sead flight bought the farm, I made it in, took out 15 ground targets with my CBU-105s and made it back to tell the story. It was during night and a few enemy flights in the AO.
I managed to score a mig29 on my way out and limped back home to land in Italy. What a great feeling and what a calming voice to hear welcome back from the fantastic ATC!I wrapped my evening up by dogfighting the MIG29S on Ace and landed a 3-0 score. That AI is the best I ever fought in a sim and I have no complaints what so ever. It’s fantastic!
I want to extend my thanks to everyone who was involved in making all of this to work. I can’t think of a finer combat flight sim than this. The complexity, ai and overall polish is top notch!
Many thanks!

RE: A golden era ahead for BMS
@Ollie22 Good AI is just the tip of the ice berg. It’s how everything that exists integrate so nicely with everything. From mission planning and package setup to how it actually plays out with ATC and AI flights.
It’s beautiful.Yesterday during a flight I could hear how the flight lead (AI) was instructing his flight to line up in a specific patter, they took off, was handed off from the tower and formed up and started their flight over to the AO.

RE: Santa's wishlist for BMS
@VDK Finally we can attack Denmark again. Seriously though, not much to fight over in this area.

RE: Which is the best Visual VR?
@tdr With that hardware, do not invest in VR It won’t work, it wont make you happy and it will look and play horrible. VR adds some serious hardware requirements on your PC setup.
If you where to buy new hardware, I’d buy no less than the following:
RAM: 32GB
STORAGE: 1 TB SSD/NVME
GPU: Nvidia 3070 or above… alt AMD 7900 or similar
CPU: AMD 5800X3D or higher. For the VR headset itself, I recommend the Meta Quest 3. It’s has good optics, high enough res displays and a good pass through mode. It’s priced pretty good too considering what you get.
VR is an expensive approach to gaming that both requires time and knowledge to get it working well, and sometimes not even that is enough. It’s a lot more mature than it was a few years ago but is still finicky and requires patience.
With upcoming 4.37.4 we are seeing the addition of OpenXR, it allows to eliminate the usage of Steam as a middle layer and that could potentially add a few, very much needed frames per second.
Factor in the cost of a new computer, the headset itself plus the time and effort needed to get it working. If that’s OK, dive in. It’s cool when it’s working.
Just buying a large monitor and head tracking is the cheap alternative. It’s not the same, but it’s still pretty good.

RE: Questions for Quest 3 Owners?
@Raphael said in Questions for Quest 3 Owners?:
Are you satisfied with the Quest 3, or would you now recommend a different headset?
Very much, it’s a mature product, good optics, good enough fov and no screendoor or other annoying artifacts.
What cable do you suggest? I would ideally want to get a cable that wouldn’t require charging the headset.
I found on amazon a usb 3 cable with ability to plug in an extra charger. While using that when playing I’ve yet to run out of batteries if the device is charged before I begin.
What head strap would you suggest? I am thinking of the BOBVR M3 Mini.
bobo is overkill for Flightsim use, default one works good enough
I want the headset only for BMS usage. Will the 128GB be ok, or would I need the 512GB for some reason that isn’t apparent to me?
128GB is perfectly fine even if my whole family uses the headset
Can you please confirm thate the Quest 3 can operate without an internet connection? Since I was told that it can’t, but I cannot find any data to confirm that speculation.
Unknown but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work without. For running BMS you connect the headset with the PC (pref. via cable) using the oculus program on Windows, then start BMS.

RE: AI wingman refueling broken?
That’s interesting. I ran that mission yesterday and the wingman aced it.
Maybe he was having a bad day?

Looking for an old video
So I was telling a friend about an old funny video where a long time bms player tries the initial version of DCS Viper. He’s getting more and more frustrated by the horrible state the module is in and the background music gets louder and louder. The music is Edvard Griegs Per Gynt I believe… You guys recognize above description? It’s funny.

RE: BMS Manual Search
Very slick application. 100% self explanatory and it does indeed speed up browsing in the manuals! A+

RE: for Quest 3 users : passthrough screen readability (helios compositing)
@scottd5800 I think it’s this command, paste it in your user config:

RE: Santa's wishlist for BMS
Talking about AWACS, I’d like for them to keep me updated with relevant changes and addition to the pictures instead of me just requesting info. Like check in and that gives you rolling up dates. Checkout takes you back to request based flow.
