RE: TvT between v.Wings-Squadrons
@Atsalis said in TvT between v.Wings-Squadrons:
Hello,
our beloved BMS has been crowded with so many virtual Wings and Squadrons, all of them striving for improvement as much as possible, up to the point of professional perfection.
I am coming from one of those. As such, I would like to raise a suggestion of a TvT round with Squadrons participating, instead of individuals.
Strictly Squadrons, without singletons, without uncoordinated flights.
An event that would bring the Squadrons together to meet, join, work together.
Cooperate, plan and execute TACTICS, not just kill logs.
Ideally I would personally like that to run with only human controlled aircrafts. Is there any interest for such a TvT ?
This TvT gameplay already exist.
Last event was TvT round 4 (Official TvT).
We are planning to organize a TvT round 5 soon. -
Falcon BMS 4.36 - Full Installer
Ladies and Gentlemen,
on behalf of the entire BMS development team, I am happy to announce that the latest iteration of the Tommo Inc Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.36 - is available for you to enjoy as of RIGHT NOW!
BMS 4.36 requires a legit installation of a Falcon 4.0 (all older and newer versions are accepted alike, i.e. Microprose, Hasbro, GOG, Steam, Retroism). The check is performed both at setup time and every time you start BMS. If no valid installation is found, BMS will exit with a corresponding error message.
For those of you who are new to Falcon and still need a legacy Falcon 4.0 license, you’re lucky, as there are various season sales going on.
Note that this is NOT an exhaustive list of where to buy Falcon 4.0, it’s just a list of retailers known to me (best effort) that offer sales/discounts, for your convenience. The list will not be updated.
This mod may not be used for any commercial purposes. Any such use may constitute a violation of the intellectual property of Tommo Inc and the non-commercial Terms and Conditions under which Benchmark Sims make this mod available to you.
BMS 4.36 comes with a plethora of changes. As with each major BMS release, a full changelog would fill whole books. Instead, we’ve summarized the most important changes for you here: 4.36 Changelog
You will find all documentation and manuals for Falcon BMS 4.36, Please refer here
NOTES:
- 4.36 is not an update to the former 4.35, but a new independent base installation
- 4.36 can co-exist with 4.35 on the same machine
— The build number string in the Falcon UI will read “4.36.0 (x64) Build 26181” for the base installation
A big THANK YOU to everyone in the BMS development team and to the gents from TOMMO INC who made this release possible!
Now download and enjoy! -

RE: VR- Pimax: Parallel Projections or not?
@Snake122 said in VR- Pimax: Parallel Projections or not?:
@Bad-Boy thanks!!! I’ll give that a try but won’t be able to until at least tomorrow with the holiday today.
But I would say in general, long term finding a way to not have to have it checked is important. For SteamVR 8k X 100% that’s almost 33 million pixels of resolution per eye (practically 8k, but each eye, each frame) compared to just over 16 million without it checked. At least in the past in DCS and quick looks in BMS 4.37, the percentages in SteamVR seemed to be comparable in quality between the two options 100% checked vs unchecked looks about the same. You can’t just lower the checked parallel projections mode down to the unchecked resolution and not see a large quality drop.
Got 80 fps in TE and 60 fps in Campaign here with the option “parallel projections” checked in PiTool

RE: 4.37 VR HUD not collimated to infinity (Multiple VR Headsets)
-
Be sure to restore the default settings in PiTool>Settings>Games
So “Compatible with parallel projections (Need restart SteamVR)” must be ticked/enabled by default -
Restart your Pimax
-
Be sure to let the “Resolution Rendering” by default to “Auto” in the SteamVR parameter
-
And the most important : be sure to set the Antialasing Samples to “1” and Quality to “0” and “Vertical Sync” must be disabled in the BMS Graphics Setup
Enjoy

RE: 4.37 VR HUD not collimated to infinity (Multiple VR Headsets)
Maybe try to disable the “Vertical Sync” option in the BMS Graphics Setup (if not already unchecked) => i had some issues with “double vision” in VR
-
RE: SteamVR crashes
Try to set the Antialasing Samples to “1” and Quality to “0” in the BMS Graphics Setup

RE: AAR Practice
@NoPro
Just switch to a Viper seat (just select the F-16 flight you want to join and just click on the F-16 icon you want to join (Leader or Wingman) -
RE: VR- Pimax: Parallel Projections or not?
@Snake122 said in VR- Pimax: Parallel Projections or not?:
Just throwing it out there. Pimax users have an extra setting over most VR headsets in PiTool>Settings>Games
Check box of “Compatible with parallel projections (Need restart SteamVR)”This unchecked is normally what you want to use, the SteamVR 100% resolution per eye of the Pimax 8K X is then 5120x3160. However in BMS this setting to me makes a more natural cockpit sitting position and FOV, but you have a noticeable one eye only HUD (fine with both eyes open right eye dominance here, but noticeable if I shut my right eye). You’ll also notice the exit menu, radio subtitles, and FPS overlay are doubled into both eyes. Overall though I think the visual comfort and performance, this is probably what you are going to want to use despite the double overlay issues.
You can check the “Compatible with parallel projections (Need restart SteamVR)” but your FOV is very small and you are sitting very close to the ICP. Also your HMCS seems to be a little more off right eye line and can be hard to focus on, but the HUD works well with either eye shut. The screen overlays like FPS and exit menu are single. But the real deal break of this is the 100% Steam VR resolution increase to 8336x3948, it kills performance and turning the number down to a closer to before of 5272x2496 (40%) is a noticeable quality loss.
Ok i solved this issue on my side :
-
Be sure to restore the default settings in PiTool>Settings>Games
So “Compatible with parallel projections (Need restart SteamVR)” should be (must be) ticked/enabled by default -
Restart your Pimax

RE: AV-8Bs merged when spawning on the WASP?
All RunwayListType are defined in the database. For the Wasp :
- 6x Small Park Pt (for “take off” RunwayListType)
- 2x Small Park Pt (for “landing” RunwayListType)
- only 2x Helicopter pt (by design)
The spawn issue could come from the 6 Small Park Pt too close to each others. Maybe we should only define maximum 4

RE: Headache Saver - Alt Launch Override
@Dee-Jay hi mate
It’s located on the top right of the AL Launcher window (black cross) -
RE: AV-8Bs merged when spawning on the WASP?
This can happens when too much flights are spawning at the same time => not enough spawn points available (by purpose regarding the size of the Wasp 3D model). However you are still able to adjust manually the Take Off times just to be sure that there is enough delay between each flights to spawn on the deck.

U1 is an incremental update on top of 4.36 base, so you need to have the BMS 4.36 Full Installer package available on your PC. You can both update your existing 4.36 base installation as well as perform a fresh 4.36 base + U1 installation from scratch, as you like. See the installation instructions below for details.
This mod may not be used for any commercial purposes. Any such use may constitute a violation of the intellectual property of Tommo Inc and the non-commercial Terms and Conditions under which Benchmark Sims make this mod available to you.

Please refer to: WIKI Installation page to see how to proceed with BMS update.
After the update, when starting BMS, the version string in the BMS UI will now read:
