Microsoft Flight Sim is a very good choice for this kind of flying. Forget combat though.
Does it let you shoot missiles to or is it like just flying fighter jets around with no combats like flying commercial passenger planes in Microsoft FS?

I just played F4.0 series (Free Falcon and BMS) based on VFR and just focused on shooting enemies down when I was very young but ever since I got my PPL and started working on my CPL and IFR ratings, I have mainly focused on TACAN and ILS based instrument flight when I play BMS and DCS. But are there any other combat simulations that also have instrument navigation/flight features like TACAN, ILS or other stuff? I have been playing BMS and DCS for many many many years and I want to try something news but all the other NON- F4.0 or DCS based sims that I have played are just basically VFR only shooting games and their compasses and attitude indicators are the only working instruments on their planes and there is no fun for me.
I taked to a South Carolina ANG F-16 pilot at an airshow and asked him if there is any possible way he can see VOR signals instead of TACAN and he said they have both on the upgraded F-16s. He said it is a package that shows both VOR and TACAN and he mentioned the name of the system package but I forgot the name of it. I tried to google it but nothing showed up.
When I land at an angle that is around 15 degrees, it sometimes looks like the rear end of the plane might have hit the ground very slightly but there is no way to figure out if it really did or not since the graphic textures are not 100% precise and it is too close to determine if it hit the ground just by looking at replay videos and I don’t think BMS has a fiture that shows very small or minor damages on planes such as very minor tail strikes. It seems like it either doesn’t show anything or it just explode like crazy. So I wonder if the plane’s tail has never touched the ground as long as the plane doesn’t explode or it says crash or it just doesn’t show very minor contacts with ground or other objects when it actually did happen.
