Not fatal…. The inability to split those functions among different cards would not be a deal killer for me. But I would like to have all radio comms (including AI) on one card and all other sounds on another.

Currently, it is not possible to directly tell IVC which soundcard to use. However, IVC honors the Windows “default playback device” vs. “default communication playback device”. If you have marked one soundcard as “default communication playback device”, the IVC client will use that card, while BMS will use the “default playback device” at the same time.
However, the problem is that this currently only works for the human IVC. The AI does still use the BMS internal sound code, hence the AI playback will still use the “default playback device”.
So no clean solution here right now, but it’s on the ToDo list.
Thanx Dunc. That’s good enuff for me.
I see, not sure if it can be done. Have you looked over the IVC section in the manual?
Many times just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Thanks for the reply.
I know I don’t NEED to. I WANT to for the sake of ease of use.
You misunderstand. I have all my VOIP programs set up to use the second card so I can separate the volume control in my OTHER sims. I can make it work for IVC by unplugging the headset from the second card, replugging it into the main card, and then reconfiguring the sound in Windows to use just the main card. Then if I want to use my other sims, I have to go back and undo all that and go back to my original configuration. Then if I want to use IVC, I have to switch back again. What a pain. All it would take is a setting in IVC, or BMS to tell the system which sound card to use for IVC. I know it can be done. Other programs do it.
Not sure this is where this belongs as it could be a suggestion depending on the answer. I use two separate sound cards in my system. One for the main sounds in the sim, and the other for VOIP such as Teamspeak, Mumble, etc. I do this so that I can control the volumes separately. I also fly MSFS and X-Plane online using live ATC from VATSIM or IVAO. Having the two sound cards allows me to use a headset to speak with ATC and have the sim sounds coming through the speakers. That way if I have trouble hearing ATC, I can turn the volume down on the speakers to hear my headset better.
My question is this: Is there a way to force IVC to use a separate sound card so that I don’t have reconfigure my setup to use it? Teamspeak and others allow one to select the device that it uses, so I know it’s possible to code it that way. If it’s not possible at this time, might I suggest that it be done in future updates?
