    • RE: Cannot Laze . getting T not an L letter during gbu drop . need help please.

      @Harlequin:

      If you can’t be bothered to spend 5 minutes looking through a manual don’t be surprised that no one is interested in spending 5 minutes to spoon-feed you.

      You miss my point! Some newbies might not have the first clue where to start looking! You have to remember some people might be totally new to combat flight sim altogether!

      While I don’t disagree with you - some effort should be expended on the OP’s part - some consideration needs to be given the OP’s status also. Some people might not have any idea what a Sniper pod is (as an example). All I am saying here is we cannot just assume people are too lazy, and want to be spoon-fed. Some people might need a little more help than others, that’s all. For sure, some will be too lazy and that’s it, but they will soon be sussed and treated appropriately - this I have no issue with.

      @Amraam:

      Yep, but if we need to copy paste two pages of details that are already in the manual, do you imagine the time waste? 😛

      Perhaps what is needed is an in-between, where all the training info can be summarised in a sticky thread. Give the newbie the bare bones info, with a reference to the relevant page number of the relevant manual at the end of the post? A Nuggets Guide, similar to as was in the F4 forum at Frugals all those years back.

      Agree it means a fair bit of work to begin with, but if all the community chipped in with their own little bit of expertise, it wouldn’t take too long before it grew into a useful online resource.

      After that, if newbie still asked questions, RTFM (and more besides) would be much more relevant… 😉

      @I-Hawk:

      Yes because the manuals have all the answers you need. If you took the time to read the Sniper section then you will know that you needed to switch laser to combat in order to guide LGBs.

      With respect, once upon a time, an internet forum was regarded as an excellent source of information too. Especially one dedicated to the subject matter, as this one is. “RTFM”, especially for someone who is new to the subject, can and very often does come across a less than helpful, and even downright rude.

    • RE: 4.33 Issues (Known or not)

      Sorry, I don’t have time to check this entire thread… Has anyone reported Steerpoint Auto Increment still not working properly? I seem to recall from ages ago it should inc when with 2 miles, but it still needs to you to be on top of the steerpoint before it does. I also recall this was to be addressed. Apologies if my info is incorrect.

      I completed the poll. Is it now necessary to state my actual OS version also?

    • RE: Need info for building Falcon 3.0 486 PC

      You would be better off, and probably more successful, looking for an INTEL 486-66 processor. This was the processor of choice for F3. Don’t settle for Cyrix or AMD or any other, compared to Intel they did not have the power.

      Also, look for software called QEMM - Quarterdeck Expanded Memory Manager. This will make the 604K+ base memory allocation simple. Manipulating DOS back then was a total nightmare and could take the uninitiated hours of frustrated tweaking before hitting the magic number.
