    • RE: SA-10 Killing me with no Missile Warning

      SA-21 was initially S-300PM-3 before it was renamed S-400 (hype bonus). PM-1/2 are SA-20, PS and PT are SA-10.

      SA-20 is midway between SA-21 & SA-10. Main improvements of SA-21 are electronics and fire-control wise (harder-faster-better-stronger, basically) and the employment of an increased variety of missile types to be able to engage threats the most efficiently possible way within all the battery’s area of responsibility.

    • RE: Smooth way to zoom in

      @TeeSquare:

      If you have a slider it can be set to that and is very smooth. With a little more effort, a spot along the motion of the slider can be used to decrease the sensitivity of a tack or while zoomed in.

      thank you, I’ll have to try on my Warthog slider then.

    • Smooth way to zoom in

      Hi all,

      Mouswheel zoom method leads to jagged zooming in and out - are any of you aware of a method to zoom in smoothly in BMS?

      cheers!

      @depapier:

      You can find a ton of information on the organisation of vvs, pvo of all three branches and much else on the official university webpage here : http://files.mai.ru/site/unit/institute-of-military-science/tvvs/data/vvod.html. And if you want more, look at the list of literature, which you can easily pick up at flibusta

      wow, I digged a lot but I can’t believe I missed this.

      on russian air defence layering, in addition to the very interesting work by molni, a few interesting diagrams I found & translated when searching open source russian literature on IADS

      here mostly applies to the aerospace air defence branch (PVO-PRO) ; the army air defence concept sports some differences but still of course makes great use of layering.

      @Red:

      Something bugs me though

      Since SA-10 have HOJ
      Since you’ll be dead if you turn your own jammer on in BMS
      Since A prowler, EF-111 or Growler closeby will protect you and allow you to overfly the Sa-10 battery without ANY threat in BMS
      How come that Sa-10 can’t HOJ on the prowler, growler or EF-111 then ?

      HOJ is, if I’m not mistaken, mostly used against noise jamming. Electronic attack supporting aircraft (as well as fighters’ self protection jammers) don’t necessarily only employ noise jamming, which kind of is level 0 of jamming. But in public flight sims, we won’t find much else than noise jamming…

      Dont believe Lorik, he is french. 🙂

      Go inside a SA-10 envelope at low level.
      Take an escort (not SO) JAM platform with you and a DEAD section, if you need to.
      Use ECM blinking techniques.
      Avoid overflying cities due to SHORAD.
      Use terrain for cover.
      Loft your iron bombs (no AGM or INS WPNs)
      Be a man, be a wild weasel!

      we’re French in 2000s and we do exactly as you describe 🆒

    • RE: Dcs World Viper and Falcon BMS

      Well yesterday I decided to fly a campaign mission in 4.34. The first one in 4.34 for me. I usually fly TE’s and it’s been a while since I flew in a campaign. But had quite a few issues there as well. Some simple things like my pilot voice and AWACS talking at the same time. I asked AWACS for a picture and as soon as AWACS started talking, my pilot voice started to call out bandits making AWACS impossible to hear. This is easily fixed of course by disabling my own pilot voice. But AWACS also stopped talking halfway through transmissions sometimes. Like Viper 2-1, I have 2 groups…first group…then nothing anymore. This happened 2 or 3 times during the mission. Then when I RTB’d at the end of the mission there was an aircraft stuck on the landing runway. He was just sitting there and was still there when I was shut down on the ramp. And after shut down I noticed ATC calling out to an AI flight if there was a problem so I started to look around and noticed some AI jets pointing at each other getting stuck trying to taxi. I admit these type of problems in BMS are quite rare and was quite surprised to run into these things, but all in all the campaign mission was a bit messy this time. Not what I’m used to in BMS.

      I never experienced that in maybe 3000+ hours of BMS, so you’re pretty unlucky to experience that in a single flight…

      On hoggit? I am 95% percent sure it is rather new trend after 4.34 AND DCS F-16.

      Yup. There was always a rant thread there and there, but in the last 6-9 months they have become increasingly frequent;

      yup. it may be console/aircraft/generation dependant. I’ll figure out something with the resources I have (feel free to hop in PM if you have any more relevant material).
