As I wrote at the other post, announcements like this make me think of 2 things
- Immortality
- Divorce
I wish I had the first one, but I will probably get the second one with you guys.
Amazing work team!

@greatcouloir After some searching and testing I found the sound files responsible for Idle detent and AB detent and how to increase their volume. For Idle detent it is 1 file “PushButton.ogg” and for AB Detent sound there are 2 files , one for AB on “PushButton_In.ogg” and one for AB off “PushButton_Out.ogg”. In order to increase the volume edit the file “F4SndTbl.textproto” with a text editor. I increased the max_vol value from -208 to 10000 (I don’t think increasing it further makes any difference). Look at the pic below. Enjoy.
Just in case MAKE A BACKUP FIRST of the F4SndTbl.textproto file.
If it was mentioned before then sorry for the double post, it not then sorry for not giving credit earlier. Whoever rewrote - composed the new manuals (I hope it was more than one person) huge bravo from me. They are a leap forward for sure! Great new look and feel. Excellent work guys!
@kyros I don’t know if you are Greek but we have a saying in Greece : κάποιου του δίναν έναν γάιδαρο και αυτός τον κοίταζε στα δόντια. It is the Greek version of the English proverb “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” but instead of horse the Greek version has a donkey. The developers spent literally years of their free time to keep the sim running today with tons of improvements on each update. They test as much as possible BUT in the end WE are the final beta testers as well as end users of the sim. I see it as a community project where WE help by locating bugs and reporting them, so they (devs) will prioritize and enter them on the debug queue, so when they will be fixed WE will enjoy a better sim. It is not a game console sim (actually there are no game console Sims) meaning that there are many many many different configurations (CPUs, GPUs, OSs, etc) on each of us ranging from very low end systems to super powerful PC’s, and everybody wants something different fixed or as a future feature according to their personal preference. I can’t say I am sorry to see you leave, I will only be sorry to see @Aragorn leave as he is the salt and pepper of the forum (ok mostly pepper). “Shrinking community” really???
I experimented yesterday with the new AG radar on GM mode. The logic is sound and personally I find it a hell of a lot more realistic than a magic AG radar antenna that scans ahead of you and you can see the whole picture from the point of your nose up to 80nm. That never made sense to me being a newbie in BMS and compared to AA mode where you have to tilt the antenna to look for targets at various heights.
@I-Hawk 4.38 graphics eee, hehehe
@unkindled said in 4.37 Screenshots:
@Radium Pretty sure he’s giving a compliment to kouzi and saying that his afterburner should be the default in BMS as it is better than the one we currently have.
that’s what I think, some times we get lost in translation
@mustangs6551 try FCR Spotlight mode (hold TMS up). It narrows the beam to 10 degrees and concentrates the energy on the target. Make sure antenna elevation is correctly set for the target altitude.
@LorikEolmin I stand corrected sir. You are correct with Track IR enabled on external view, “headache guaranteed”. @suhkoi69 your can disable this, as I have with "set g_bExternalTrackIROrientation 0 " on user config file. I had it disabled from 4.36.

@Dragasath warning to all! I STRONGLY recommend to leave the object detail slider to max (7). I did more testing today and it definitely has to do with distance, but not just on the level of detail, but on the object visibility itself. I tried the instant action and with OD =1 the enemy planes were not visible until well under 5nm. I could see their smoke trails but not the planes themselves. Then suddenly one by one they popped in front of me. I guess one could place the slider somewhere between 1 and 7 but I left it at 7.
@Sabre Helios and spacedesk here. I use it with USB too, not just for stability but to also charge the tablet.
@Aragorn it will be there in 3-4 weeks. That was the developer’s video

@didimos I was exactly where you are 3-4 days ago. Very difficult mission. I failed countless of times, even with freeze pause, while handling the Mav targeting. The handoff just did not complete. I also tried Vis and Bore that needs no TGP but nothing, the Mavs just could not lock on even from 4-5 Nm distances, while I was at LOW LEVEL flight. The only solution for me was to risk go a bit higher, then BAM, I could get a lock from 8-9 Nm on all modes Pre, Vis and Bore, sayonara Zsu’s a few seconds later BAM a ManPad got me because I was foolish enough to turn to the left right into the enemy hahaha. But I did it again this time with no freeze and dived immediately to the right with full flares blazing, to avoid flying over the ground units. It really felt like while I was at freeze the AI was working so they fired that manpad on my first pass. That did not happen on my previous failed attempts first passes, only when I came around a second time.

Edit : I also noticed that while on Vis mode the little circle on the HUD that point to where the Mav is tracking was not aligned with the Mav camera. E.g. I placed the camera exactly over one of the zsu but the circle was lower and to the right of that unit.

I don’t see any difference other than the fps impact.
@moshpit yes there is a way. I have also raised it a bit. AB detent sound is the push button sound. Just go to the Data\Sounds folder, take the a backup of the file F4SndTbl.textproto file. Then open the file and look for 3 lines with “cockpit\pushbutton” . Then increase the number on max_vol from 208 to whatever you want. I have it at 1000. The sound you are increasing is also the push button sound. So you will be increasing the sound of push buttons in the cockpit. But they are only on the test panel I believe. If you also have other theaters installed you have to change the relevant file on their data\sound folder too.

About your OP title, we have a saying here in Greece : εκεί που είσαι ήμουνα, εκεί που είμαι θα’έρθεις. It means : where you are I have been, where I am you will come. So here here to larger radar blips!

@RingoSurf try reducing the cursor speed in the falcon bms user. Cfg .
For example set it to half speed : set g_fCursorSpeed 0.5
This will reduce the overall cursor speed even on the fcr and hsd, but it might make the tgp usable.
