      BMS-Mafia_logo.png
We of the BMS Other Fighters Mafia continue to work with the Other Jets(other then the Viper) and various Theater Devs. However, we have found it problematic to keep everything straight when dealing with multiple theaters. Plus,as more Other Jets get worked on , we want to be able to present that to the BMS Membership in a timely matter.
So, we have created the OFMKTO Theater, with gratitude to the BMS Devs for all they give to the BMS Family.
This Theater will come as a one-step Installer. Note: some anti-malware apps may have an issue with the Installer, but the program is clean.
The OFMKTO will be used as a testbed for all new Other Jet development, and new versions will be presented as needed. So, if your jet-of-choice needs help, let us know and future version(s) can address it. Also, the Theater Devs can use the OFMKTO jets for their Theaters as they desire.
OFMKTO v1.1 contains- current Hornet development
      -current Harrier development
      -current F-35 development
      -current Tornado development
      -current Eurofighter(Typhoon) development
-The Eurofighter has the 4.36 models
-TE’s and training missions with F-18 and others
-Instant Action with F-18C instead of the Viper

      Good Day, All,
Here’s our Mafia Update for the day, and I’m very happy to be making this one. It’s been posted here and elsewhere that the Mafia has been in a phase of “building the infrastructure” to be able to enhance the BMS Hornet, and from there to the BMS" Other Jets". During this time we have “felt the pain” the BMS Dev’s go through developing things. It’s really hard to put a timeline on such things! Anyway, to do this we have been testing using various jets and software tools.
I am very happy to be able to finally make the following announcements…

      1. Our testing/developmental “tool box” is now in order. Our “infrastructure” is built 🤞
      2. While we remain loyal to the FOM’s( Friends of Mafia) and the projects we’ve been asked to do, we are now doing direct development and testing for the BMS Hornet
        And now the fun starts…

<p>Good Day, All. Here’s our update for today…<br /> I have been notified that the Mafia hotspot fixes created for 4.35 have been put the base 4.36 install. We are honored the Dev’s include our stuff! Meanwhile, we continue to work on the F-18C flight model. At his point we are working under the assumption that it will not be ready when 4.36 comes out. So, we have already created an “Install Pack” that will have everything you need, including a User Guide, and don’t be worried that it’s some nightmarishly complex procedure. <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f628.png?v=1g16vn91q2r” alt=“😨” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–fearful” /> <br />This will also help the other Hornet variants like the EF-18M and the CF-188. I also have a little side project going where I’m experimenting with how the new Hornet stuff relates, or basically how <em>can </em>it relate, to the F-18 E/F and the Growler<br /> <br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></p>

      Good Day, All,
It’s been awhile since I put in an update, and I have some good news…
Brothers Kaos, Ronin, and Eddie have been working hard on the ground performance aspect of the Hornet’s Flight Model( taxing , braking, and landing) on both land and ship. I was just flight testing the new database and I think you’re going to like the changes. I know I do!
At the same time, we’re also working on the sound package, and that’s very nice, too!
We wanted to get into testing, so our “testing skin” is a bit rough. I mentioned to Ronin that I’d love the skin for Christmas 😉 Seriously though, we need to get that sorted out . But, we hope to have something in the Mafia Files soon.

PS: To Dev’s and Theater Devs: We are approaching this in ways that you can easily include this in your projects

      Hi, Max,
Thanks for the updates. I was wondering about the RWR “M” issue when a Mig-29 caused a “Nylon Let-Down” without an M!
I gotta say, though, think of all the code in something like BMS. So, if the bugs are just things like this, you guys are doing great.
Also, in the Big Picture, please keep something in mind. You may get the occasional troll or someone not clued in. But, don’t let that get to you. The vast majority of us are very aware that you are a small group , and have lives ;). But ,that just increases the appreciation for what The Devs have given us.
Think about it , People. They have given us something FOR FREE that matches ( and in the view of some of us, exceeds) things like DCS…

    • RE: A Note To All BMS Theater Developers

Hi, Guys, and thanks for the replies…
Max, I approached the Dev’s when we first did the cockpit fixes. I was told to send it through Bad Boy. He and I subsequently talked about it and decided, since at that time we were doing frequent file changes and we don’t know when BMS updates are released, that I would keep the Mafia Files current. We have done so, with Mediafile and now Gitlab… I have also talked directly with Mav, and made it very clear how much we want to work with the Dev’s. We would love to have our stuff “integrated”. Feel free to pass along to the Dev’s that if they can’t find what they want in the Files and/or the Discord, contact me directly and I’ll get it to them. And, Mav, if you remember our conversation, I hopefully made it very clear how enthusiastic we would be to be in close collaboration with you guys. You guys gave us the Hornet and the other jets, we so want to help you with them.
vAiCon, what we are doing is doing things to the “other fighters” what the Dev’s don’t have time for . That started with cockpit hotspots and has grown toward flight models, skins, etc. BTW, I wasn’t just dumping you onto Discord. I was simply inviting you to join the conversation there. I’m not sure if I’m “missing the point” or if the Mafia is. But, the point is that we are ALWAYS welcoming to the views of others. So, whatever point is missed, join us and you’ll be welcomed.
jstnj, you are exactly right. We are building on the foundation the Dev’s have laid. As I wrote above, and have posted on the Forum many times, we are extremely grateful to them for that foundation. And, I have to tell you we are “working on their terms”, as I wrote above.
Hi, Arty. I invite you to read the first post of the Project Bug thread. I go into it fully there. But, briefly we are a group a BMS members who believe that BMS is not just a Viper Sim. So, we have done what we could to help our Dev’s, outside theater developers, and the membership to get the most out of the “other jets”
And finally , Mav, and again this comes back to us being willing to help you. With U2 and now U3, the first thing we did was make sure the cockpit’s still worked. So far, so good. So, the ckptarts and acdatas have been there, and have been used by some Theater Dev’s. I can also promise you that should you decide to include us in future upgrades, we will be there for you.

<p>@asleepwater The model we’ve been working on ( so far) is the legacy Hornet, the F-18C, EF-18M, and CAAF18. 4.35 came out with some cockpit hotspot issues. So ,our first project was to help with that. . We also did hotspot fixes for the AV-8B. But, the good news is that can carry over to the other jets in BMS . Feel free to check out the Fighters’ Manual in the Mafia Files on how that is done. <br /> Also, some of the jets have very austere cockpits. So, the Manual also describes how to put a fully functional Hornet or Viper pit in your jet of choice. FYI, we have been told by the BMS Devs that the hotspot fixes will be included in the stock 4.36.<br /> I believe I mentioned elsewhere that we have refined the Hornet’s ground dynamics part of the flight model, and are currently working on the aerial flight dynamics . We plan to release the entire flight model and physical modeling package as a single release<br /> The Other jets in BMS do all share the Viper avionics. </p>

    • FPS Trick for This Dummy

      Good Day, All,
I made an interesting discovery a couple of days ago …
When U3 came out I was noticing certain FPS-type issues, as others have mentioned. I was reducing graphics settings, the usual stuff. Then, a Mafia Bud was visiting and he looked at my system. My graphics cards driver was a year , and about 4 versions, old.
I updated the driver and my FPS values literally doubled.
Yes, I know , very basic( hence the title of this thread). But, before you pull your hair out, check the basics, too.

The update for today…OFMKTO ver 1.3. is out
https://www.mediafire.com/file/if103rq136o0jw8/OFMKTO_1.3.zip/file . The details and Changelog are over in the Theater Section.
There is a bit of back story to 1.3. After 1.2 came out , and some momentum arose, we really started looking around at a lot of the BMS Other Jets. Bug fixes and enhancements. I don’t think we planned 1.3 to develop this soon, it just kind of evolved.
The biggest news for Yours Truly was the refinement of the KA-6D and the development of the F-18E with Buddy Stores. The BMS Navy now has it’s own tankers. The “Tanker Rhino” is somewhat a WIP visually(drogue attachment), but it works just fine.
I am very grateful to CCC for his help, and as always Brother Eddie and the Mafia kicked butt on this!.
Also, 1.3 may have the Installer warning we’ve seen before. But, I again we downloaded and installed it exactly as you will with no issues. Downloading it is no problem. It’s extracting it that freaks some anti-malwares. For those with issues with Windows Defender( like me 😉 )we did figure out a way to turn WD off easily The Win10 path is -Settings>Update and Security>Windows Security>Virus and Threat Protection>Manage Settings>Real-time Protection. Turn that little switch icon off, then extract and install. WD turns itself back on.

@white_fang said in HAS or HAD?:

      Btw , for curent (4.36) HAD implementation…
I’m not creating/entering debate is it RL or not, just asking…

When target sam “magenta” (missile programmed) , it is hard to see the state of the radar … green/yellow. - actually impossible 🙂

Can this “magenta square” be made some more transparent… or … other technique ??

Only “clue” is harm - lar scale …
if emmiting/yellow , the lar scale appears - shoot ,
… if passive/green then no lar scale.

That’s what I’ve experienced… maybe the true differs a bit… but in any case ???
Magenta square … hiding state of radar/sam

Concur. Perhaps the square itself could change color and not inside it? The “workaround” I ‘ve come up with is-when I engage something in the Ol’ Magenta Square I put it on my nose and if I get a RWR spike, I shoot . If I have HARM . I then spoof it to try to keep them active. If I don’t have HARM , but am engaging the site ,it’s a whole different ball game. In that case I don’t want them to radiate, so I can close on the site. Another "no-HARM-aboard " trick is to lock HAD on it, try to get good Bull data, lock the FCR and/or TGP on those coordinates, and undesignate HAD. That way I can see emitter status.

@Frederf Yes, the SA provided by the HAD page on the MFD is very useful. For me, it outweighs the “less immediate” aspect of HAD.

Concur. Even with no HARM aboard, I often use HAD as the HSD

Right now there is a lot of 4.36 campaign development happening. Last weekend , and current has been VietNam. It has some surprises for you , including a new campaign we hope you like.
Over on our Discord the “jet’s of the week” are the EF-18M and the Eurofighter.
We now have a more developed KA-6D tanker
Finally, work is ongoing on the “Fifth Gen Pit”.

    • RE: Do we develop the F-35

@Buzzbomb said in Do we develop the F-35:

That model work looks fantastic! And it gives me an idea, one that probably wouldn’t lead to anything but I’ll throw it out there anyway. The ability to walk around the exterior of the jet and interact with it. For example, though I’d probably get shot if I ever actually touched them on a real F-16, I know where the canopy open/close switches are and where their access panel is on the F-16. And the equivalent exterior panels for the F-35. To be able to walk up to the F-35, open the requisite panels, extend the built-in ladder, and climb in would be kind of neat, as part of an extended cold ramp start sequence. Actually being able to simulate the preflight walkaround complete with pulling the arming pins would appeal to some people. A few times, anyway.

There’s a great deal I DON’T know, particularly about the F-16V, and I hope to learn some of it. For example, have its control laws been updated to be more F-35-like? The F-35 essentially has “where you point it, I go” autopilot active all the time. Take your hands off the controls and it maintains the current direction, pitch, and roll values. So if you’re wings level you can just let it fly itself but it’s not a true autopilot. It’s just flight automation. The V might have that. Or maybe not.

I’d also be interested in seeing if the V currently or later will get the DAS of the F-35. (Distributed Aperture System)

Hi, Buzz. An external walk around capability could be lumped to ground crew modelling. That would be quite the process in BMS, but you never know.
The thing about developing cutting-edge systems is you have to have accurate performance data to model it. Like AESA radar, for example. There’s been talk in the Forum for years about that. That’s going to be even more pertinent when developing 5th gen stuff , especially classified 5th Gen Stuff!
Another thing to consider is it’s effect on BMS as a whole. As it’s safe to say the majority of the BMS membership flies the Viper, what effect would having a lot of fully modeled F-22’s and/or F-35’s and/or J-20’s have on it?
So, there are questions to be answered ,but I’m not being a nee-sayer here. There seems enough interest for us to pursue it. Besides, it will be fun 😉 .
And, any volunteers to help would be most welcome.
So, what can we do? That’s the question. I can tell you that right now we are working to develop the 5th Gen F-22 pit created by Metalhead. Right now we have the Viper and Hornet pits. That’s why you see them plugged into other jets in BMS. A “5th Gen Pit” could be used in the F-22,-35, J-20, etc. Also, the recent work Musurca and Falcas did on the Tornado pit shows that even austere stock pits have potential. It just takes time and effort.
Flight models can be adjusted, if needed. However, even at present the people that created the Raptor and Panther FM’s did a really good job, IMHO. The the F-22 for instance. I don’t know how accurate it’s FM is, but it sure is fun to fly!
Also, could the radar be enhanced? How about radar cross section? That can be adjusted. Could padlocking be a “poor man’s” DAS?
      Time will tell.
