Wouldn’t you know it, I went and tested again in the AA Radar Modes missions and it’s working - wonder if it has something to do with mission settings/loadout? Will have to try some of the others.

Unable to get no radar lock with HMCS any more
Not sure what I am missing here, this used to work fine for me. I did replace my X52 with a CH stick/throttle and set it up with the included Kolbe keymaps so that is what I am using. As far as I can tell everything else appears to be working (rather well I will add! Love the new setup)
I realize I have to be in dogfight mode, have the HMCS up and sidewinders ready to go. Per the documentation I understand the procedure (and this used to work with the X52) is to
Have HMCS on
Engage DF mode
Hold TMS forward (goes into NO RAD)
The ellipse should appear
Release TMS when over a target and it locks. This used to work exactly as shown in Krauses tutorial here:
Around the 42:56 mark
I can’t for the life of my figure out why it never activates any more and I never see the ellipse…I am still able to get locks by pointing the cross with the ac but not with the HMCS. Must be missing something but cannot figure out what
Any ideas, did I miss a step in the process?

Thanks all. So falcon has come this far….amazing! Good to know if I ever get my butt online

What is the practical use for the vhf/uhf comm switch?
Hi all, now that I have been getting used to the ch stick and throttle I have it set up as much like the f16 as possible. One thing I am not clear on is the practical use of the comm switch on the throttle. See page 25 of Bms-dash1.pdf for reference.
I understand and use the left/right functions for IFF out and in but an puzzled by the up and down for VHF and UHF. Is this used in multiplayer for cimmunicating with team mates or something?

This is really good stuff, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

RE: New 'pooter on the way - can I copy the game location to the new hard drive?
I got it up and running, just installed BMS again and copied over my config files. Running great so far! Now if I can just figure out how to convert Hard Decks X52 profile to the CH Fighterstick and Throttle I will be set.

Goodbye Saitek, Hello CH! But where are the profiles?
Hi all,
I am replacing my aging and troublesome Saitek X52 with a CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle. Should be here shortly and I am getting ready for it. Learning Control Manager is going to be a treat I am sure, and I would like to start the same way I did with the SSD software, by loading up a profile and seeing how it ticks!
Problem is, I can’t find any There are several links I have found, all to dead sites. One that turns up often is this one:
http://www.72ndvfw.org/forum/m/5688083/viewthread/8140906-smokeys-hotas-profile
And it looks great, but I cant seem to find anyway to actually obtain it. I don’t even see any profiles here - am I just missing them? Hard Decks X52 profile worked really well for me (when the X52 wasnt crashing or causing me to pull my hair out) and I would love to duplicate that on the Ch.
Any advice appreciated!

RE: New 'pooter on the way - can I copy the game location to the new hard drive?
Registry is indeed edited… my guess is it wont be ok.
Ah, bummer. Oh well I have my Falcon 4 CD handy so I should still be good to go!

New 'pooter on the way - can I copy the game location to the new hard drive?
Hi all, got me a new system on the way (woo hoo!) and am preparing a list of things I will need to get on it and of course, BMS is a high priority.
Since I am going to be transfering a lot from the current hard drive to the new one anyway, does anyone know if I will be able to copy my installation of BMS as well? I know some games, especially older ones are ok with that but sometimes there are registry settings and what not. Just curious - if not I have no problem installing fresh and copying over config files.

RE: Falcon MFD Software for android tablets
would this work on a Nexus 6 phone?
-
RE: Ideas for OSB keys?
I set up my MFD’s in my DTC for emergencies (like A-A encounters) and for the A-G stuff I make sure my settings are set before I hit the jump-off steer point so in the heat of battle, I don’t have to mess around with them.
But the Cougar MFD’s are only like 50$ or so for two (no screens, just buttons) and they help a ton, too.
EDIT:
Okay, 63 with free shipping on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Cougar-Flight-Control-Panels/dp/B002HH9TRY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432663809&sr=8-1&keywords=cougar+mfdOoo I like those! That’s a decent price too. I wonder if they are available with the actual MFDs and not just the buttons - is that a thing?

Ideas for OSB keys?
Hi all, I would like to find a more efficient way of interacting with the MFDs. My current method of taking my hand off the stick, grabbing the mouse and flailing around is sloppy at best. Short of building the real thing I was wondering how you guys handle this in the heat of battle?

RE: Iff you could have one thing in the next update it would be. (Archive)
Updated tutorial mission documentation. The missions are still in Bms, but without updates in the docs they are not useful. And in the original Falcon as well as AF they were fantastic learning aids.

RE: Can talk to tower in Taxi and Runway but not Ramp - not Data Cartridge issue
Ok I got it, turns out that loading the data cartridge too soon (as was mentioned here) was causing this. All good now - thanks everyone!
-
RE: Can talk to tower in Taxi and Runway but not Ramp - not Data Cartridge issue
One difference is in Taxi and Runway the data cartridge is already loaded. In Ramp, you have to load the data cartridge yourself. Weaklink mentioned it including some other differences, like switching to up front controls yourself when starting from Ramp.
Are you using Red Dog’s Startup checklist/procedure (or some personalized version of it)?
I have been following the tutorial “Falcon BMS 4.32 - Install to Combat Ready in 1 Hour (Tutorial)” at

RE: Can talk to tower in Taxi and Runway but not Ramp - not Data Cartridge issue
Hi!
First of all : DO NOT USE THOSE “FUNKING” PRESETS!
Keep it simple stupid (KISS) => Enter directly the freq in ICP… and check if it works.
But thats the thing, when I look at the ICP the frequency that I need is actually there. Are you saying to take it out, then put it back in?
Still confused why it works with a Taxi or Runway start but not ramp since they all use the same data cartridge. Obviously I am missing a step but I don’t know what it could be.

Can talk to tower in Taxi and Runway but not Ramp - not Data Cartridge issue
Hi all, got a head scratcher here.
Been practicing ramp start using the Takeoff TE that comes with BMS. All works fine except I never have any communication with the tower. So I can’t even have the chocks removed. I have verified:
My Data cartridge is set up as required, in fact I verify this by starting the same TE in either Taxi or Runway and it works fine. It seems I am missing something in the ramp start process but bugger if I know what it is - I even compared my UHF settings. In Taxi and Runway it shows what I expect:
UHF BOTH
15
353.10 (which is I believe Seosan AF, the one used in the Takeoff training mission)I see the exact same thing after my ramp start.
All comm channels look the same to me in each instance, yet no matter what I do I cannot communicate with the tower after a ramp start. Been over this about ten times and I cannot spot any one procedure I am missing ….
headscratch

RE: Would the CH Fighterstick and pro throttle be a good upgrade over the saitek x52?
No they don’t…unless you buy a CH fraken-potato. I had one and used it for a few years, it was awesome, but I wanted something different and found a great deal on the warthog.
Hmm, thats a big strike against for me. But I am torn since Saitek has been mostly problems since day one. Grrr.
