@Malc Since you have Virtual desktop working from what I can see, there’s only 1 setting you need to launch BMS into VR, its the setting highlighted, (or I believe it can be set in the AL.) Then just run BMS, and steam automatically starts. After that you can work on fine tuning your other settings.

RE: [not VR] HMCS Alignment Sensitivity
I have mine set to 30,20,30,20, and not had issues in any modes TGP/FCR VR and 2D. Here’s a video of how that looks during alignment…

RE: PICO4 - how do I actually start BMS into VR 3D?
@Malc said in PICO4 - once in SteamVR, how do I actually start BMS into VR 3D?:
Hey Malc, you are very close so stick with it.I have SteamVR installed, Virtual Desktop Streamer on my PC and Virtual Desktop on the VR.
When I put the VR on, I click on Virtual Desktop and after a second or two my desktop is shown and the VD takes over approximately half the display. …
At this point, you still see the VD overlay. Simply click the Left controller menu button (left most button on it) once, to hide this, then you are left with only your desktopIf I click Open SteamVR I get to the Steam page (I can start ACC fine from here but no way to start BMS).
Don’t open steamVR from here (although you can, it will open steam panels which you don’t need), BMS will call for it when it needs it, and you have set BMS to run in VR.I f I start BMS from my Windows desktop, eventually SteamVR kicks in and says Falcon BMS next up… but once the sound comes through, the VR display is like a 3D world with a flat panel in, on which I occasionally get a frame or two of BMS 3D but it is mostly just black.
Steam VR opens, then BMS will start. It may be confusing as to wheatear you are looking at BMS UI from your VD, or from SteamVR. If you see your pico controllers and can use them on BMS, then you are still in VD, and to get to VR in BMS, you simply DOUBLE CLICK, the same menu button on the left controller. Now you need to use you mouse to navigate and jump into the pit. You can use this technique to jump back and forth between BMS VR and VD. Also note that a single press toggle of this button brings you in and out of the SteamVR where you can look at and adjust settings.Frustrating, especially as I had it working previously with VD on my daughters partners Pico (about a month back) and yesterday with Streaming Assistant (albeit not great visuals)…
Below are my settings forVR from the …\BMS437\User\Config\Falcon BMS.cfg file, and a video I did some time back.
Note the controllers now look different in the latest version of SteamVR. -

RE: Boresight and Cycling from A/G to A/A
@Bayonet @sungad
Missing steps are, after full boresight completed.- Make sure WPN is SOI, (should be if done nothing else after boresight)
and for each Mav station/rack - Unlock (TMS down), MSL step
As explained this does not guarantee weapons are aligned with your aircraft, and although you might lock a target with the TGP, you may loose valuable time waiting on the maverick to slew into the HUD. Best to cycle through boresight or VIS mode for each after you have ‘bore-sighted’, and before you reach the target area.

RE: Physical MFD and ICP vs handtracking vs mouse only with VR
I don’t have a ‘tactile’ ICP, but a versatile button box made for VR. Agree with @Snake122. I find myself always gravitating to the trackball rather than fumbling to the button box. (mouse on RHS, and trackball on left (I’m left handed) so I can do most things while controlling with the joystick. )
When pass through and masking matures those peripherals will come into their own in VR.
If you are going the VR route, I would hold fire on spending on those peripherals.

RE: Boresight and Cycling from A/G to A/A
After boresight you should switch both (or as many stations as you have) through boresight/vis mode (not to be confused with boresighing per se), and allow the missiles sensors to break lock with the bore-sighted targets and align with the Hud. Other wise when you come to use them they are likely pointing to or locked onto, the items you bore-sighted with , and may take some time to align with your TGP sensor, which they will only do when you designate the new target.
I try to explain this in the video below…

RE: Shooting CATM-120
Hmm.
The real life stuff is to try as far a possible to ‘simulate’ the tactics or using these weapons, to improve on pilot skills, and remove the risk to pilots, or the cost of weapons. We are fortunate that we are ‘in a simulation’ and so can simulate these weapons by using live weapons in the sim. I not sure I see the sense of not using the real thing in BMS with/without invulnerability enabled.

RE: EZBoards - Generate kneeboards (flights, comms, stpts, weather) from briefings
@Phonon Yes, but you will need to create a new ezboards instance for each bms instance, and know how to edit a .bat file with notepad…

RE: Varjo just dropped their new headset range...
@I-Hawk Bytedance have just laid off many of their gaming staff. Pico 4 (like Q3) is pretty much a loss leader with the hopes of making money on content and services. While i’m a big fan of my Pico 4, I would not be holding my breath for a new range from them.

RE: Varjo just dropped their new headset range...
@jayb Its been released to business’s first, and consumer’s later, but no, that’s the consumer version AFAIK…

RE: Cannot lock in TGP
@igorry Excellent! I’m sure some of the pit builders here will help you with the mod. Good luck
-
RE: Cannot lock in TGP
@igorry If you going down the bodnar route, might consider making yourself a button box to use its additional outputs. You would just need to run a cable from it to the throttle, for the mouse stick.
-
RE: Cannot lock in TGP
@igorry If there’s any doubt about your thumbstick reliability (which is a likely culprit for the problem, remove the cursor axis mapping temporarily, and use keys to slew to test. (SimCursor…Up/down/left/right mapped to SHIFT up/down/left/right…Arrow keys from the basic keyfile)

@Bayonet Looks to me like a small typo, ‘your lead’ should be ‘your wingman’…
