X64 version not only crashes often, but the mouse movement on the clickable pit is slow and jerky.
Crashes occur in IVC server when booting in x64 mode too

General fix for Graphics Card Black Screens regardless of Operating system.
STep One, Find Out what graphics card you have installed and write it down. The reason will become clear later.
2. Go to the MANUFATURERS site not the microsoft site for downloading the drivers, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES NO MATTER WHAT YOUR MATE SAID get them from any other site apart from the manufacturers website and get the correct language for your machine as well as the 64 or 32 bit version. Yes the drivers will be old but at least they will work. Falcons old etc.
3. Go to Control Panel and look for Programs and features, in there should be a listing of the name of the card you wrote down earlier and uninstall it. You may receive a warning which isnt surprising that the uninstall file doesnt exist any more, if this is the case then go straight to step 4. Uninstall the drivers and restart your machine
4. Run the driver installation program you have downloaded and OVERWRITE ALL files no matter what junks been shoved in there by Microsoft in the mean time to make your installation compatable with windows 10.
5. Once the latest driver packs installed reboot your machines ALWAYS.
For those who have registry checkers I would suggest you use them at this time, those in need of one can download one I use frequently CCLEANER, manufactured and programmed by Piriform. ONLY get it from Piriform and nowhere else. Its free and this isnt an advert.
Reboot your machine and try out falcon now and all should be fine.
On shutting down Falcon the program closes sometimes without crashing but always leaves the IVC client running all the time.
Very nice job on the mods so far guys and good luck with the testing phase.
As a beta tester on Windows 10 and been thanked by MS greatly in the usual fashion of yes its working now we will release a f***d up version ready to charge everyone for a fully working version.
Recommendation. Those lucky enough to have the DVD and done a clean install of windows 10, remember not everyone has done the drivers for your machine yet. Should your machine or components therein be over three years of age then forget support for windows 10 there wont be any. Make do with the generic drivers issued with windows 10.
Those who have upgraded to 10 and have machines older than 3 years remember this, IF YOU REVERT BACK TO WINDOWS 7 BE IT A LEGAL COPY OR A HACKED COPY, THEN YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LICENSE INFORMATION IN THE CHANGE BACK AND WILL HAVE TO RE ENTER YOUR WINDOWS KEY AND DONT BE SURPRISED IF ITS A GENUINE KEY AND DOESN’T WORK. ALL LICENSING FROM WINDOWS 7 AND 8 IS DELETED BY WINDOWS 10 AND AS THE OS IS UNLICENSED AT PRESENT THEN THE STORING OF IT IS NOT DONE SO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW YOUR WINDOWS 7, 8 , 8.1 KEY NUMBER BEFORE YOU HIT THE RESTORE KEY OR YOU IMMEDIATELY GO INTO THE 30 DAY TRIAL.
Sorry thats in caps.
Windows 10 doesnt like anything legacy, not just Falcon, and as for Alt Tab or Ctrl + Esc both should work faultlessly, if they dont then check your display drivers for an updated version suited for Windows 10, you may have to reinstall the motherboard chipset drivers to overright the microsoft ones which are known to cause this issue with a lot of programs. Sorry not my fault blame Microsoft. These changes are ones as testers we have had to do frequently to get things to work.
Those wanting to revert back to Windows 7, do so with a clean install, it takes way less time to do than sorting out the mess of registry screw ups during the reversion and remember to reinstall ALL drivers regardless.
Best feature on Windows 10, “Go Back to Windows 7”. The release of Windows 10 is unfortunately a crappy beta from february that was the closest working beta they have right now. Updates are being piled in by the day and driver updates for hardware in 60% of cases don’t exist. Screen recording youll need to have a really fast hard drrive and processor combo to achieve the data rate. I have a bought copy of fraps, itll clock up 60fps on most games and around 25 on falcon on my setup. Falcons like me, old.
dumb point but mounting jdams above wings may prove hazardous to a pilots health when they fall off the pylon and land on the upper wing. nice idea though, turn falcon BMS into Elite Dangerous mk II
The 3d revolving pit should be available in 3D mode ie press 3 on keyboard. Check in settings that 3D viewing is turned on, if it is turn it off, restart then turn it back on again. Check freetrack has been FULLY removed and not just uninstalled. Then if after all that it fails to work, welcome to the world of the ever present glitch.
Generally if the external viewing screws up a reinstall should cure it.
Probably a dumb question to ask here, but do you actually have a PS EYE camera and the drivers that can be purchased for it installed properly. The clip comes with two coloured screens one red one blue and it takes ages of messing around to get it so that all three dots of the leds are visible all the time. i had one used to disappear behind my glasses frame in a certain position. Also using the Facetrack NOIR software, check the virtual head to see if it moves forwards or backwards when you rotate your head, if it does then you need to alter the settings.
Theres plenty of vids on youtube to show you how to set it up properly it took me hours to get it right and once done youll find its best to have the camera pointing at the actual clip rather than at your face, you get far better movement recognition with it like that. Dont be surprised if it suffers crashes in the first instances of using it the profile needs to get worked in and the settings correct for the thing to work properly. When you set the gamma up try to have it so the dots of the leds are about 2 or 3 pixels wide all the way round the head movement. You can use the filters as well they can help, personally i have mine mounted on the lens with bluetac for removal in a change of light. Play with them for the best results and keep notes on what you did. save you making the same mistake twice.
Dont forget Falcon understands TrackIR only so have the TrackIR simulation running and all should be good. If you have multi monitors expect issues with crossover from one to the next.
Having used the clip now for a while it takes a hell of a lot of getting used to and is really touchy, keep camera lens clean, keep leds clean and enjoy.
Hi All,
Not been around for a while got bogged in with some Beta and Alpha testing on the new up and coming version of Windows ans its effect on BMS in general.
First I doffs my hat to the passing of XP SP3 and Vista Support by windows. Grab the virtual machine XPSP3 download while its still available you may find yourself in need of it its on the Microsoft site and dont be tempted to download it from anywhere else.
Ok now those of you that have been watching and reading whats been going on in the great U S of A will have noticed that Mr Gates has retired, rumor has it his wallet got way too heavy and his butt has grown around it and he cant move any more. LOL only kidding. He has left Microsoft and is now on an advisory capacity from the latest news. With his leaving MS policy has been to try and take over sales of MAC machines which have been climbing gradualy after the introduction of the wonderous Windows 8, then the guffed up release of the patch to cure the previous guffs 8.1.
Well support for XP and Vista has now gone bye bye, with support for Windows 7 due to follow in 2017 along with Windows 8. You really dont want to know about windows 9,lol. my god its worse than windows 95. The age of the pad is here as you already know and MS dont like being behind the MAC and its releases of OS X, cant think why they went for Microsoft X, anyhow.
The latest news among the beta community is as follows and this is as of today 29/05/2015. Thise of you with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 will be able to get an update to Windows 10 or X (Roman numerals for those who were wondering) for free in windows autoupdates. Those of us with Windows 7 may have to pay a small upgrade charge, the final vote on that is yet to come in as Windows 7 is still the most popular flavour.
So what about BMS, well the good news is that it works on the current beta as well as it does it windows 7. Now for some extra good news, those who know how to make a RAMDRIVE and have enough memory should go for that and a virtual XPSP3 works like greased lightning. Why I hear you say isnt windows X an update, yes and no, its a kind of thrown together piece of software like throwing Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 8.1 Ultimate and a pinch of XPSP3. So far out of my own personal category of falcon versions, BMS 4.32, Falcon 6, Open Falcon (final release), SP4, all work unhindered IF you have the direct x SDK 8.1 installed also available from microsoft only, just to make the joysticks work. The RAMDRIVE will speed up machines that have memory and slower processors than 2.6 GHz either AMD or Intel, see Microsoft site for creation and implimentation.
As with all new systems the pool of machines used in beta testing is limited and theres thousands of varieties out there so if you come across bugs for falcon on standard windows x, switch to RAMDRIVE and virtual machine.
Hopefully theres talk in the community of rereleasing IPX/SPX protocol as an addon to networking, again its a rumour not a fact.
Good luck all with the new version to come and dont forget to GHOST your windows 7 just in case.
Gyro
Congrats on the 2K hours mark bud. That’s quite a bit of flying.
