When assigning a Squadron to an airbase it drops the squadron icon right on top of the field. Sometimes difficult to see identifying info for the base or squadron. Airbases should be able to have multiple squadrons as in real life. The base size and facilities can determine how many squadron ‘slots’ are available. Should be able to ‘mouse-over’ the airbase to see the base identifier. Have the squadron symbol indicate one or more squadrons. Right-click to see a pop up list of squadrons and their aircraft types based at that airport. Same principle for aircraft carrier - multiple squadrons. So A6, F18C and F14 can all launch from the carrier.

RE: Making my own checklist
@Coral36 I am using printed checklists and maps mainly because I am sitting in a simpit of the Viper.

RE: Required emergency memory procedures
Usually these memory items are the first 3 or 4 items for a particular emergency event. They are committed to memory because they need to happen immediately, in correct order before taking time to consult the checklist. They are in bold text on the checklist.

Assigning HOTAS
What is the best procedure for assigning Cougar HOTAS settings in the setup?
I currently have the first and second detent trigger not functioning. First detent seems to be assignable, but then doesn’t shoot when in the cockpit. Trigger 2 detent shows as non assigned in the setup.
Is there a fool proof way of assigning these HOTAS buttons and making them remember their settings?
Also, you can’t see what is assigned unless clicking on it - and then you’re in assignment mode. Is there away to see the assignments in BMS without having to click on the input?

RE: Assigning HOTAS
Thanks all for the input. I appreciate all the ideas. Years ago i had all this working, having recently returned to BMS i had forgotten the many tricks.
Solution was i needed to hold trigger at first detent, click on 2nd trigger detent in the UI, then pull trigger to 2nd detent. The set up 1st trigger detent.

@jcook said in What is it about landing at Yechon?:
Is there something unusual or buggy about landing at Yechon on runway 28? I can land good every where else, but 9 times out of 10, I am loosing it right before touchdown at Yechon. I loose speed, lift, AOA - it all goes to s***. This has happened more than a dozen times as I have one of my training TEs departing and returning at Yechon. My landing technique is good - the landing lesson (3) is perfected and I can land normally at other fields.
Anyone else experienced bad landings at this field?
given the evidence, there is nothing left but to affirm that what is between the chair and the sitck is damaged
No thanks Zero. What a stupid comment you’ve made. There’s always at least one in the BMS forums.

Logbook question
After resolving my recent CTD in version 4.36, and remapping my joystick. I noticed my Logbook entry for my callsign was empty, showing 0 hours when it should be just over 40 hours. The file is still in the directory, about 1k in size. The default callsign/name of “Viper/JoePilot” is primary, i can see my callsign in the name dropdown field but can’t change to it.
How can i get my callsign reselected?

RE: Santa's wishlist for BMS
HMCS target selection of ground targets.
Ability to see multiple flight plans on the UI planning map. For example, seeing the tracks and steer points for the tanker as well as the F16 2 ship. This could be done by selecting the different flights from the drop down in the Flight plan dialog box.
Improved engine sounds during startup in flight.

RE: What is it about landing at Yechon?
Lower landing weight did the trick. Did two test landings at ~3,500 and ~6,500 and both landings were easier. Thanks for help on landing at Yechon.

RE: What is it about landing at Yechon?
One heavy landing and one light landing. Light weight I landed okay, heavy - I lost it again. This my single aircraft refueling practice TE, so I am landing back at Yechon pretty heavy having just topped off my tanks about 10 minutes earlier. I guess that is the likely culprit. Probably coming in with 10,000+ lbs of fuel.
What I see on the HUD is the symbology: FPM, 3 degree dashed descent line and 5 degree descent line all disappearing at the bottom of the HUD and being obscured by the HUD camera.
Since this landing comes at the end of refueling practice I suppose I can try jettisoning the external wing tanks and try a landing at a lighter weight. I’ll see if that makes the difference.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’ll test and let you know how it goes.

@airtex2019 Its almost like the normal rules don’t apply for me at Yechon, everything that normally works in a landing- just doesn’t.

RE: What is it about landing at Yechon?
@VDK I will try modifying the winds. There are some significant elevations in the area - maybe BMS is modelling that type of wind shear.

Wingman Practice
I created several 2 and 4 ship refueling and formation practice TEs. The AI just does not fly realistically for me to fly formations.
Can anyone recommend an online group that I could fly with to practice formation and multi-ship refueling. Maybe an online training academy type group.
I’m not ready to join a squadron at this point, just looking for some better virtual pilots than myself to fly with.

Upgrade to FCC3 for Cougar
For those with FCC SSC upgrades, what improvements did you experience in your pitch and bank control?
Did you find AAR easier than with the stock cougar internals?
