Living in Wisconsin gives a person an appreciation for nice weather, so I don’t sim as much as I’d like to when I can be biking during the day and sipping beers by my fire-pit at night. Now that Winter has arrived I’ll be flying the friendly skies of Korea once again.
I’ve been flying the virtual F-16 on and off since I discovered Free-Falcon in 09. Still think my wife left me do to that.:p
When 4.33 was released I installed it and gasped at it’s beauty. So I decided it was time to build a new gaming rig just for that. Then, shortly thereafter, I installed DCS A-10. I try to give both sims quality time. Maybe three hours a week. If I don’t I quickly forget what button and key does what. Really gives me an appreciation for what the real pilots have to learn. And I thought the Infantry was a pain.
I fly only TE’s, ones I create and ones I can transfer from 4.32 in “Mission Commander.” Right now I’m in the habit of using the KTO range to learn and become proficient in different ordinances. I should try a campaign to see how my current rig handles it and to see what’s changed in the AI since 4.32. The other theaters look wonderful. Maybe I’ll install the Balkans. I miss that area since the “Allied Force” days.
I still use a Saitek AV8R with the keyboard doing the rest. I think I’ll move to a HOTAS within the year. With my current set up I can survive a good number of missions. It’s a never ending learning curve, but one I enjoy.
I would like to try multiplayer, some day since I now have a head-set but I don’t know if I’m good enough. I watch You Tube and am simply amazed at what I see. and the community seems great. But for now I’ll stick to solo-play. I’m not shy, I just don’t want to make an ass of myself or piss any one off.
Toy I built in January: (Windows 7)-(Pentium 5 6600 O.C to 4.0 gig)-(16 gigs of ram) (Track IR-5) (Logitech keyboard, mouse, and head set, All glowing in silly colors) (AV8tr stick)
