In my experience it is not a question of restarting the server, it is the client that needs to exit fully and re-join it.
Good to know, thanks!

Yesterday I was doing multiplayer in Balkans theater. My buddy was host and we started with a flight from Amendola. In the DTC I had set Amendola tower on preset UHF 15. The flight went okay but my lead was shot down. So, we went back to the lobby and my buddy planned another flight from Brnik airport. I joined the game and we did a taxi start because we were running out of time. When I got into the pit my radio was still set to preset 15 (amendola) Upon entering the pit I heard the pilot of my jet requesting taxi from the tower. This is usual behavior when starting with taxi instead of ramp. I didn’t hear the reply from the tower as we switched uhf to preset 1 and vhf to frequency 118, which is the tower of Brnik. Now when I tried contacting the tower of Brnik I could not hear the tower, nor did I hear my own pilot voice requesting taxi. My buddy however heard the reply from the tower to my call. The same happened when I requested QNH.
Now, this morning I tried a taxi take off again from Brnik in single player. The UHF preset 15 was set to amendola just like last night. Upon entering the pit, my pilot did not request taxi. Only when I switched vhf to the tower of Brnik did my pilot request taxi. I could hear the tower clearly as expected. If I switched to uhf preset 15 I could contact Amendola tower, although it was far away and not clear to hear, but this was expected. switching back to vhf 118 and uhf 1 I could talk to Brnik tower and hear the replies from the tower.
Now, we’ve been told that this kind of bug happens in multiplayer and it’s advised to always restart the server before flying another flight in a campaign. We only seem to be running into problems when doing consecutive missions on the same server instance. Sometimes the radios don’t work as expected, like we had last night. Sometimes other bugs appear.
So I’m wondering, is any work being done to resolve these multiplayer issues and why don’t online servers like falcon online and the veterans gaming server experience these issues? They have their servers running all the time and people log in and out and make flights without having to restart the server between each flight. I would say this is a bug that needs to be adressed. I would expect that I can fly multiple sorties in the same server instance in the same campaign without having to restart the server and without bugs appearing.
@M79:
After two f18 ramp starts and 2 flameout landings on carrier that was supposed to be carrier training missions just for take of and landing i find that knob or in f18 button to be something to remember.
No probs on takeoff but after about 1,5 minutes engines just gone cold. I was at turning back to carrier when engines suddenly died at 1200ft. Last moments I did turn my plane off from carrier cause I can clearly see that that I don’t make it to deck.
Next with 1800ft of altitude with same i setup managed to restart engines and those were spooling at about 60% when i hit deck. So in this case engines seems to got some fuel…
Get in deck but my gear did not like my landing.M79
In the F-18 this switch should be set the same as you would in the F-16, that is one click with the left mouse button. In the F-18 it will say that’s the left position, but because in the F-16 that’s the NORM position it needs to be there. Setting it to NORM in the F-18 will lead to the same behavior as clicking it twice in the F-16. It’s built on the F-16 avionics, so you have to keep that in mind for this particular knob.
Freefalcon uninstalls Microprose Falcon 4 if it finds it. It actually gives a warning about that when installing freefalcon. I did the same thing recently because I wanted to fly the Blackbird for fun.
Might want to leave the lighting effects on “per pixel” because per vertex causes the light cone of your taxi lights to be disabled and you don’t want that at night. (at least on my system it works like that.)
Depends on what you want to do. Some mods break multiplayer compatibility but if everyone uses it or you fly on your own you can try them.
AFAIK this is the intended behavior. Manual disconnect usually leads to the end of a fuel session, so you have to re-request fuel to get fuel again. I believe this behavior has been around since before BMS even.
If you don’t have trackIR you can move your view down with the mouse, like you probably did to make that screenshot. That’s the only thing I can think of.
Change the following lines in your falcon bms.cfg:
set g_bEnableExclusiveMouseCapture 0
set g_bMouseButton4TogglesClickablePit 1
This will prevent the dual mouse from appearing in game in the first place. Also works when you’re working with dual screen if you want to manage things on your second screen.
(in case of dual screen you need the toggle to disable the mouse, because otherwise you can get a second mouse on the second screen when you go back to Falcon.)
