Hi all,
I’m starting using some advanced Russian weapons , as atm I’m fighting mostly on the “Red side of the Force”:spy:
Russian seems actually to pack some devastating weapons , but I don’t know them much , so I would need some advices and explanations on their practical use .
For the 1st time I tried the AS 17/Kh 31 missile .
For my 1st attempt in campaign(Syria, Peace for Galilee), I tried to use it against a ground radar to give my troops some liberty of movement .
I shot the missile , then I was shot down by an F-15I . It wasn’t a problem because I was just training , but when I read the debriefing , I was very surprised to see that my missile, instead of striking the radar site(SATCOM) that I aimed, damaged actually… an Arleigh Burke frigate near the coast of Israel , many , many miles away from where I was thinking it would explode .
I never aimed at this ship ; besides , I wasn’t even able to see her .
I read some documentation about the Kh 31/As 17 , but I find not so easy to avoid being confused by the Russian/NATO codename of the different variant of the missile .
I thought the AS 17P(the missile I actually launched) was an “simple” HARM , althought I know the KH 31A seems to be an antiship weapon . I assumed I loaded an AS 17P , but now I’m quite confused .
Can somebody explain clearly to me who is who (I mean , which missile with which codename) , and its associated purpose(and how to use it) ? As all of this is so new for me , I’m messed up a bit .
Thanks in advance for your help and your useful informations .
Take care, you all .
Best regards,
Laurent
