    • RE: FreeTrack issue in BMS

      Since uploading that video I’ve switched to OpenTrack and now TrackIR 4 and of course BMS 4.34.2, but the issue still persists on all headtrack devices and sim versions. Disabling “Realistic Head” didn’t help. Seems like it helps if you either disable Roll, or limit your pitch-up to approx 90 degrees up. That’s slightly less than what BMS allows, but it looks like the view jump happens only after passing the 90 degrees up mark.

      Yes, it’s in 3D, with cockpit view (IIRC recently on of BMS devs said it’s better code-wise to have it in cockpit rather than outside view). I’ve tried several times with either of the computers acting as server/client, hitting pause before or after client connecting etc.

      @LorikEolmin:

      It should be back to pause when NO client is either 3D OR 2D.

      I think it doesn’t work properly for me then. As I’ve described in previous posts, server goes back to pause only if no one enters 3D. After a client enters 3D, the server will not pause again, even after all clients have disconnected. Maybe I’m missing something? Both installs I’ve tested it with are pretty much stock, no mods, standard KTO, no .cfg changes.

      @Mav-jp:

      It is exactly as I said

      It will pause as long as a client is not in 2D or 3D

      However , if all clients pauses in 2D (clock stop) or 3D it will pause

      In my tests the auto-pause seems to work only if no clients commit 3D. In 2D it’s fine. If anyone enters 3D, then exits, the server does not pause again and can’t be forced to STOP/HALT by clients in 2D either. It has to be paused directly on the server again, but that’s no really an option for an non-supervised dedicated server.

      @Mav-jp:

      Already implemented

      Just put your serveur in pause with the “P”

      It will pause as soon as there is no more clients connected and committed in 2D or 3D

      Thanks, didn’t know that!

      Though form the quick tests I’ve just performed, it looks like it auto-pauses and auto-resumes if clients join the server, remain in 2D and exit, but if a client goes 3D and then exits, the server will not enter the pause again. Forcing HALT as client doesn’t work anymore after exiting 3D either. Not sure if that’s intended?

      Not sure if these would be feasible or stable in MP (if possible at all), but I think such features, toggle-able in .cfg, might improve dedicated 24/7 server experience in some cases:

      Auto-pause with no clients connected

      Override time compression or toggle pause by authorized clients (“server admin” password?)

      It’d be nice to be able to type hostnames in the comms phonebook, instead of IP Addresses only. You can already type in the dedicated IVC addres box (though I haven’t checked if that actually resolves the hostname). That wouldn’t change much in terms of 24/7 servers running on static IP, but hosting would be much easier for people who have dynamic IP and use some dynamic DNS service.

    • RE: X52 pro slider as speedbrake switch?

      Maybe try with command like this:

      I’ve tested that with couple “online keyboard testers” and they show that the Shift+B keys are being pressed and held down, while the previous way I posted showed rapid key-press and key-release event.

    • RE: X52 pro slider as speedbrake switch?

      Use the “Advanced Command” mode by right clicking on the input field of the slider and set the repeating key combination there. In the “repeat field”, push and hold Shift, then push and release B, then release Shift. then right-click and use the “quantize time” to even the delays between commands - you may need to try different delays and see what works best, and then do the same for other command.

      Also, be sure to set three, not just two bands, so that the middle portion is blank and not continuously sending any commands that could break other input.

    • RE: Need advise for Future Saitek Hotas purchase

      1. I’ve been using X52 Pro for approx 4 years now. It took me a while to get a fully working one (one had problems with registering button presses, other one was just plainly dead on arrival) and it was a bit of a hassle with all that RMA, but then I finally I got the one I have to this day and it works really quite nice - even the jitter on the rotaries isn’t that bad, and one of the hats started having problems but after heavy usage for years. I guess that’s the infamous Saitek “hit and miss QA”. I dont know how, or if, the state of QA changes after Logitech took over.

      2. I’ve recently changed my BMS profile from heavily profiled to almost exclusive DX assignments. It’s a blast, no more sticking radar cursor or inadvertent keypresses. It features two “layers” directly in the BMS. I think I lefty only bare minimum in the profile, like speedbrakes on the slider (acts like buttons) etc. On the other had, for all these years I used profiler extensively for all other sims I play or played in the past (IL-2 series, DCS, Arma 3 helicopters, FSX, Edlite Dangerous etc), and it didn’t cause me any problems. Maybe because in BMS there are many command which are by default combinations with Ctrl, Shift etc, either pressed shortly or kept pressed, when you emulate it through software and simultaneously issue multiple commands, it apparently can get stuck.

      3. It’s quite straightforward, and pretty much only using “advanced commands”, with precise button press and release times or intervals, need some more tinkering than simple “assign keyboard button X to joystick button Y”.

      4. In BMS? Twist rudder should suffice. It’s used almost only on the ground, though some may use it while dogfighting or strafing runs. On the other hand, having your hands free while taxiing may be convenient, when you can freely use the ICP. With twist stick, if you want to taxi and do something in the cockpit, you either release the control off the stick and rudder, or off the throttle. If you play other flight sims - especially with combat prop planes or helicopters - having physical rudder may be even more beneficial. Still, I’ve enjoyed simming for all those years without them.

      5. I think I based my own profile on the Flounder’s one. First step is to try to mimic the real side-stick, and if you have any free buttons left after that, use them at will.
