So, I thought I’d start a new campaign (Rolling Fire) and try and get the ATO to fight the wall of Migs with a wall of its own.
To do that I’ve first duplicated the KTO and it’s database so I can modify some values safely. I changed the CAP role score for all the blue aircraft in the campaign that can cary AIM-7/AIM120 to 100, and changed the primary role to CAP too. In MC I changed the squadron roles to A2A as well.
In Falcon, I’ve zeroed all target types except aircraft, all missions except DCA, and all PAKs except those along the FLOT.
My expectation was that basically every aircraft would now be tasked with BARCAPs and I’d have a huge wall of aircraft protecting the south, and not much more. But the reality is I’m lucky to have 5-10 BARCAPs in total on the ATO at any one time, and after 10 hours there are still squadrons that have only flown 1 or 2 missions.
Have I broken the ATO by doing this, or is there something else that affecting ATO mission generation? I’ve looked into the values of both Falcon4.aii and mission.dat, but haven’t changed anything in either (and don’t really want to either). Whilst I’ve searched here high and low, any info to help me better understand the ATO would be greatly appreciated.
